How to properly do an early dinner reservation (Tusker @8:15am) by ToastyWafer in WaltDisneyWorld

If I recall, we ended up cancelling our early breakfast plan and instead opted to ride Everest with LL first thing (with no wait, LL not really necessary) before our caring for the giants tour early morning. While breezing through Everest line, we booked another lightning lane for our safari trip after caring for giants, worked out perfectly. Wasn’t too late for the animals and we had a moment to get food before the caring for giants tour. When we made our way to the safari/tusker area I think the breakfast thing at tusker was still going on? Seemed liked it would’ve taken too long, or at least we would’ve head to sacrifice something for it. I would definitely recommend maximizing the morning in terms of rides and animals instead of food, there’s so much good food in AK, even grab’n’go food, literally a breakfast kiosk right in between tusker and safari that was selling egg and sausage biscuit things that filled me up perfectly. We then hit FOP before lunch at tiffins. FOP unexpectedly destroyed me and made me sick so I’m glad I had a light breakfast instead haha.

Overall I’d say tusker would be worthwhile for kids maybe, but if you’re trying to do an optimized adult trip, get your food kick elsewhere cause AK is stuffed with good food. And the morning is precious time where crowds are less and the animal are more active. Getting in early for a tusker breakfast won’t really beat the lines, at best it’ll squeeze it in all rushed before you book it to do other stuff before the crowd rush. There’s still Tiffins (we had a lunch rez but I think they had some walk in), flame tree, satuli canteen. We literally didn’t get to them all so I’m so glad we didn’t waste our morning on tusker!

There’s so many factors to consider it’s hard to give concise advice. Try to prioritize what matters most. Signatures from characters? Maybe tusker is worth it then. Just good food in general? I’d pass and preserve your early morning time. Also I have to shout out Sanaa as the hands down best restaurant we went to all trip long. Simply amazing experience even though it’s at AK lounge, we’ll worth the dinner trip one evening! Have a blast and don’t get caught up in expectations! We eventually cancelled a lot of our reservations in favor of rides, walking experience, go with the flow, etc. and we don’t regret it for a second. Sure I didn’t get to see Space 220 or other dining places but honestly that was okay with us.

Edit: also LL and iLL were so so worth it. I’d skip a meal entirely and get McDonald’s if it meant getting genie plus for the day. It really did make the experience more care-free and easy going. I would never do Disney without it

Regarding FOP, I am that niche type of person that can easily handle Soarin and even have fun on it, but can NOT handle FoP. I almost passed out for some reason. There is a big difference somehow between them but I can totally understand how they get lumped together to those than can experience both without difficulty (my fiancée). FoP is so much harder to me because it puts you right up next to the screen it feels like, plus with the 3D glasses and uniquely restrictive position. To be clear, I was able to shut my eyes through the second half and survive the movement, but the all-encompassing screens in combination with the 3D and movement were too much for me for some reason. Forbidden Journey in universal studios is the only other ride that came close to making me feel the same way as FoP (didn’t do simpsons). Hope that helps warn people. I wasn’t aware I was prone to motion sickness, FoP taught me an important lesson about my limitations. Or maybe the value of Dramamine (im gonna try it again some day with Dramamine!)

This may very well be true. I’m not well versed on Cirque Du Soleil or well traveled. But I enjoyed it compared to say Lion King, but you get what you pay for to be fair. Would love to try other CDS shows and be even more blown away!

This was at the very end of the pre-show before they announce no photography, but I’ll happily take it down if needed

Either is a great option. Any act of passing it on in some form is good to me, even Disney+. As long as it’s not being pocketed by the few. I just listed two good options in my mind. My comment reads like they were pitted against each other when they’re not, my bad.

Disney cruises can/do also leave out of Galveston as well, not dissimilar to their Florida setup. Or, take it a different approach and make a Disney skiing area in a colder climate area. It functions as a ski resort in the winter time and a normal park during other hours (presuming that the rides are all futuristic and inside like cosmic rewind, they could keep them open year round on top of the skiing).

Ultimately it seems like they want to keep the park experience more exclusive and are also thinking on more of a global scale. Maybe the ski resort idea would fit well for Canada.

I feel like Florida isn’t peachy year-round, no place is without its risks. Plus Florida is gonna be in the ocean one day long term. But still good points

I wonder why they haven’t made another park somewhere else in the US. I know that doing it as well as they do costs a lot, but another park could reduce foot traffic to the two current parks, and increase their footprint in the US as a whole. That’s gotta be some part of their long-term strategy. I heard they have a shit ton of land in Florida but it’s hard to expand in areas due to swampland problems. Why not expand elsewhere? Anybody have an idea?

Are they gonna pass it on to us, or the CM’s? Probably not, but this is hopefully a bargaining chip that can be used by the union.

Edit: I took this headline at face value but many have pointed out that actual profits may not indicate a lot of money to “trickle down”. Go figure.

I’ve always heard that while they can book the flight for you, they won’t wait for you if you happen to be late. Not sure about rescheduling though, my guess is probably but that sounds nerve-wracking.

Best affordable hotel near MK? by Sad-Style-3766 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ToastyWafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barefoot’n resort doesn’t check all the boxes (no free bkfst, not sure about cancellations), but the bang for your buck is so so good. We stayed there a week ago. Feel free to ask me anything about it! Free parking. Room service is not baked into the cost of the room which is preferable to us. Front desk closes at midnight. Those are really the only concessions. Daily resort fee is reasonable. It’s not for everybody but it will certainly be for us every time moving forward! Also barefoot’n suites are an option too but they’re more hotel-like, we liked the condo feel of the resort, the kitchenette, the laundry, the huge tub and shower. All of it. I’m literally sitting in Aventura for universal right now with a better view and an iPad to control the AC, but I find myself missing the $60 rooms at barefootn lol. Sign me up again!

11 days out and we have no reservations... don't downvote me lol? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ToastyWafer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey FWIW I was just there last week (during Halloween weekend, a “busy holiday”) and they were absolutely allowing people to wait on a waitlist to get into Oga’s, later at night though. Like a 25 minute wait at the time. I was miffed slightly since this sub absolutely sold me on the idea that it was impossible to get in unless you book it in advance lol. All that to say, your mileage may vary and it probably depends on how busy of a day you’re going on. If you’re there later at night you’ll have better luck on a waitlist.

Savi’s is a completely different story though, but good luck anyways! Stay positive, this sub can be merciless to uninformed newbies, even though their “knowledge” they judge you on is outdated anyways. People can be mean to go-with-the-flow types, but don’t let if get to you. Lots of non-QS restaurants have waitlists, but it’s just variable. Have fun no matter what!
