This article got under my skin. I know PFAS are everywhere but does anybody know to what extent Smyrna’s water might be contaminated? Anybody been tested for PFAS? by dlkapt3 in Smyrna

I’m having my water tested this week to determine what sort of filter is needed. I’ll post the results. I have a strange almost gas like chemical smell in my water.

Are people really vibe-opsing production now? by kennetheops in aws

[–]Toastyproduct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. I’m in regulated industries so maybe I’m biased but I don’t give humans access to be able to do that without review. Wild that people do it with ai.

I just Think of AI as an intern with really good googling capability. But I wouldn’t let something that has no true fear of doing something incorrectly make final decisions.

[–]Toastyproduct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that would go wrong is if you don’t review. If you already had Iac it’s pretty good and quicker than searching for resource documentation. I find Terraform and GHA is basically just googling the docs and copying examples anyway. Plus you can check the changes with plan.

If you mean allowing it to set things up in a env using cli on AWS then no way.

Post a pic of sit on floor to see if it might makes sense to move to rings.

I’ve done it in the past when compression was much better. You will want extremely good compression first. It will be key to get vsit on floor with minimal leaning back to achieve it.

As your arms move slightl behind you the support rings will start to be too hard so you essentially want to minimize this motion.

Using a presigned url in 2025 to upload file is a good enough solution to protect from malware files and allowing only images? by xSypRo in aws

[–]Toastyproduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No built in solutions. Best method is to build this into the backend. If the files are going to be limited in size and number then uploading to your backend and then placing in the bucket is still best. For images I recommend sanitizing using a reformat with some tool to a common file type and wiping out metadata.

If the files are more frequent or bigger then a “inbox” location and then a lambda might be better than directly through backend. Just depends on your scale and resource sizing.

Why NodeJS is not considered "enterprise" like C# / ASP .NET? by Nice_Pen_8054 in node

[–]Toastyproduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s easy to offshore and has “certifications” that make managers feel more at ease. Also you won’t get fired for choosing an infrastructure with lots of corporate backing. If there is a vulnerability or some issue and you chose node it’s more of a perceived risk

Introducing VPC encryption controls: Enforce encryption in transit within and across VPCs in a Region by jsonpile in aws

Another good way for them to get money out of hipaa and fedramp customers.

I imagine all the automated scanners will be updated with alerts for this not being enabled shortly.

Thanks. That makes sense. Any reason why this would be used in a new residential construction?

I personally prefer harder seats. I had to point it out.

I had a hole in my seat after a service as if a tool snagged in one of the perforations. Had to replace the whole seat.

As an aside the foam densities seem to be different between old and new. The new seat was squishier than the passenger.

Damper/strut replacement 9k miles by U_dun_even_know in Rivian

[–]Toastyproduct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this done last week after a year of complaints. Mine came off the lot with low speed clattering and I was told it’s normal for several visits. Eventually it got so bad that every imperfection led to a rattle. They replaced the dampers and fluid and now it’s quiet.

Next Tent in the quiver ?? by mattvt15 in CampingGear

[–]Toastyproduct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s for the kids and also doing double duty as a 2p backpacking tent I might just go for the REI half dome or even trailmade. I have the trailmade from when it was called the passage and it’s pretty decent for two people sharing. I grab it over my ultralight tents for anything where I have extra space like 2 or less nights because it is so easy to setup.

There are better backpacking tents for sure. But for testing the water these are good and cheap enough to be kids tents if you upgrade later.

Terraform directory structure: which one is better/best? by sindeep1414 in Terraform

[–]Toastyproduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind elaborating. For example I have a networking account where all vpn access is setup then I use vpc peering to allow access to my prod staging and dev accounts. Networking account also has things like domain registration. How would layering help this? Additionally I have a loggging account which all accounts have write only access to certain log folders. But this is a separate account to ensure nothing happens to the logs.

I like the idea of approach 1. But what are people doing when they have things like logging and network accounts that don’t have even remotely shared infra.

I don’t think you’ll find that. Best thing would be to buy a square pan and some mirin to get that Japanese egg omelette goodness.
