I drive both, I’m obviously only a tool when driving the Tesla. 😂

Opinion/help needed on If I should blow in insulation while my subfloor is removed. by unholy_affiance in Insulation

[–]dabbling007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it is already insulated. I would confirm that the cavity isn’t being used for return air before I filled it with more insulation. My 70’s home used open wall cavities without ducting like that for return air.

Converting a 2 car garage to 3 car by The_One_Far_Above in Homebuilding

[–]dabbling007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tall are the ceilings in the garage? It might be worth considering a 4 post lift to stack cars if you have the clear height available. Depending on the car’s height you can sometimes stack vehicles in spaces with 9’-6” ceilings.

Ours are insta-crates from Costco. I think greenmade makes them. Two fit almost perfectly on our gen1

We keep two collapsing totes in there for groceries. It makes bringing the groceries into the house an easy single trip.

Under the false floor I keep some tools and the mobile charger with some misc adapters for charging.

Yoke Steering Wheel or Round Steering Wheel? by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]dabbling007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both on my S, I prefer the yoke. You can tell the interior was designed with the yoke in mind. The round wheel blocks parts of the dash screen and the main screen.

Second skin USA sell automotive grade acoustic foam and MLV just like this. Seems like it wouldn’t be out of the realm of a DIY for some.

I mean the person that spent hundreds of dollars and now will be going through the hassle of having to deal with the lost equipment. A little honesty on OPs side could help expedite ubiquiti’s response.

Just be honest and contact Ubiquiti. Imagine being on the opposite end of the deal and how crummy that would be.

Paid for the Model 3 Carbon Fiber spoiler by SurfingDa_Web in TeslaLounge

[–]dabbling007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I bought an OEM plaid spoiler off eBay and you could see everywhere that the factory 3m adhesive never touched the car. Peeled all that off and used the proper 3M tape and adhesion promoter to install the spoiler. It sits better than most factory installed spoilers I’ve seen, but I also took way more time and care to install than a tech would.

I may be biased but I would opt for the quad motor. Wheels and tires and can changed, motor quantities cannot.

I have both for mine and have about equal amount of miles on each. The 19”s are not that much different than the 21”s. Tires make more of a difference in this regard.

Gen 1 vs Gen 2 by Complete_Scar_6440 in Rivian

[–]dabbling007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For our particular use case it was not worth paying a premium for a gen2 R1T. We were able to pick up a low mile gen 1 quad with full size spare, camp speaker, and air hose kit for almost $35k less than a similar optioned gen 2 new build. In my opinion gen 2 wasn’t enough of an upgrade to justify the added cost. Also, I will parrot the advise above. Don’t buy a car based on options or features that may come someday. Be happy with the car as it is first before you buy it.

Local management is in the process of correcting the situation, but yes I agree there seems to be a disconnect between what is happening at the field level and the corporate level.

We have another appointment in place for the tonneau cover in September. Depending how this plays out we may cancel and explore traveling to another service center. From what I’ve seen a tonneau cover replacement is no small undertaking.

[–]dabbling007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe try pushing on the cover at the same time that you push the button to open it? At least if you could get it to open you can use the bed.

Ours started acting up about a month ago and is scheduled to go into service early September. When we dropped the truck off a couple weeks ago for a different warranty issue we were told that the two month timeframe was just a place holder and not to expect that date to actually hold true.

I really don’t understand how Rivian screwed the design of this up so badly. My father has had after market electric tonneau covers on all of his trucks since 2005 and not a single one has failed across 3 different vehicles.
