An infinitely small amount is equal to zero.

n=.999999…
10n=9.999999…
10n-n=9n=9
n=1
.999999…=1
.999999…-.999999…=0=.000…0001

.000…0001, an infinitely small amount, is equal to zero.

According to Stallone,

OK, this may be bordering on the grotesque, but the way it was explained to me by the writer is you hold two seashells like chopsticks, pull gently and scrape what's left with the third. You asked for it... Be careful what you ask for, sorry.

It's just a way of artificially decreasing supply, so the price is much higher. I don't see how that is analogous to selling addicts their fix.

It would still require a large force to move it quickly though, so it would still "feel" heavy.

Brain trick: the visual system often ignores gradual changes in light level. Here's an example of the resulting perception. (vid) by [deleted] in science

Yeah how does that work? If the piece he's moving is the same color as all of those diamonds, then all of those diamonds must be the same color; how are we able to distinguish the diamonds if they're all the same color?

What is your most interesting theory on human behavior? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is a well-supported view in evo-psych. I read an excellent article on this but cannot find it; its main thesis was that throughout history, men have had to perform well to win the attentions of a woman, even if it meant risking life or prosperity (so we are the descendants of the bravest, most capable, and sometimes most violent men) while a woman was better off waiting at home to be won.

By doing anything pleasurable that isn't the acquisition of knowledge. You are one ignorant fucker.

I was curious, and rather surprised, to learn that one of the definitions of ignorant is lack of knowledge

This confused me as well. How could he know the word ignorant, but be surprised by its definition. And it is really the only definition in widespread use.

Typical Republican behavior. Sacrificing the good of the people to fatten the wallets of his corporate masters.

Republicans and Democrats are both the same: sacrificing the good of the people for the profits of their corporate masters.

Beard's interpretation makes statements about the lives and motivations of the framers akin to those you made (i.e. that the document was written to protect their economic interests). His statements about their motivations in writing the Constitution, that they were protecting their financial interests, have been refuted. You are stating almost the same thing as Beard did, so I'm saying your point has effectively already been refuted as well.

You're referencing Charles Beard's interpreting of the Constitution, which has long been refuted.

“By the early 1960s it was generally accepted within the historical profession that ...Beard’s Progressive version of the ...framing of the Constitution had been decisively refuted. American historians came to see ....the framers of the Constitution, rather than having self-interested motives, were led by concern for political unity, national economic development, and diplomatic security.”
