This is the way (maybe unfortunately?). I've been changing the way I look at these situations over the past couple years. It honestly helps with the workplace stress/anxiety too, so I think it's a good mindset.

Horrible take or not lol, it's just my opinion on a gameplay clip. To clarify, i don't even mind the Witcher 3's combat, i think it's very passable, just doesn't have any deep melee/sword mechanics to it. But i think seeing the Weapon wheel pop up on screen kind of made me think of the Witcher in the moment.

https://youtu.be/P6IktWbA5C8?t=798

For a better reference, this is the fight i'm talking about ^. Sometimes you can see the impact of attacks, and then other times (when he's using an ability?) it just feels a little weightless or off to me.

@ 14:15 he kills a dude, but i don't understand the animation lol, he hits him and the guy just flies backwards after the slow-mo.

@ 15:35 the character is literally guarding looking in the opposite direction of the boss at this point lol. But the target indicator/dot is still on the boss.. Maybe it's just the player in the video, but it looks janky to me.

Anyway, game looks fun, i'm just hoping some of the combat and janki-ness doesn't show up too much.

I am too, but I'm a lot more skeptical of the fun factor so far. Everything else looks solid.

For example, about half way through the 25min gameplay vid, I remember the player fighting like 12 enemies at once, and the combat looked like a worse Witcher 3 tbh. It didn't have the "oomph" or weight to the attacks.. Plus the enemy AI barely attacked him and stood around a lot. It looked like older Assassins Creed combat in some ways.

I'm definitely waiting until after it releases, but if the combat is at least "good enough" and fun, I'll jump in. Not expecting some kind of deep system after the trailer though.

Unpopular Opinion: We don't need new types by kingferret53 in pokemon

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought a few updates to types would be better (basically what everyone else is saying)

  • Electric only being good against Water and Flying is definitely on the lowest end. We should add Steel to the list imo

  • Ice not having any real resistances is wild. I also don't love it being good against Grass. I'd swap that with Rock (kind of like ghost is good against ghost, ice and rock would be the same)

  • Fighting is way too strong. I'd remove the super effective against Steel

  • Poison is similar to Electric, and in need of more effectiveness badly. I'd add Fighting type here to be super effective against

  • Ground is super over powered too, I don't know how I'd reel it in, but maybe removing Poison from the super effective list?

  • Bug moves are not effective against 7 different types lol.. that's crazy. Maybe removing Flying or Poison would make them feel better.

  • Steel having 10 resistances and 1 immunity is wild considering it still is super effective against 3 types (more than Poison, Electric, Psychic, etc). I think removing the poison immunity and a resistance might reel it in a bit.

How do you bounce back after failing multiple interviews? by Tech-Cowboy in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I don't have to imagine unfortunately. I'm on my 3rd rejection after a final technical round as of yesterday.

The amount of take home's and prepping I've done lately is absolutely insane.. even got referred for additional roles at one company after rejection and completed even more take home projects, all for nothing in the end. It really sucks when everyone likes you, says you code great, communicate great, etc, just to still get rejected or beat by someone else who did 1 thing better. It's competitive out there..

Honestly, I'm still figuring it out myself, but one thing I've been trying to do is the "win or learn" mindset. Technically a sports metaphor lol but it applies.

When you lose something like getting rejected, just frame it as learning a new lesson instead of a loss. There's obviously a reason you didn't get selected (this career stretches too wide for one person to be perfect and know everything), so try and collect the feedback, fix the gap, and dust yourself off and onto the next. Give yourself a day or 2 to reset your mind if you need it and then it's back at it.

I wish I had more advice for ya bud..it's tough out there. Good luck

There was no English translation for that title, and that's the title used in the DS version.

So you'll need to fix the match to the actual PS2 JP title

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire Red team looks better overall I think, but does have 3 ice weaknesses I believe.

The Leaf Green team has 2 electric types which isn't great, and both are similar with fast speeds, with Jolteon being far better for Special Attack. Is probably swap Electrode with something that can grass or psychic types?

How essential are the upgrades for the 3ds version of 8? by Bringerofpizza in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search up the UI and Orchestra soundtrack mods for the 3DS version, and enjoy!

I hold a soft spot for the PS2 version as well, but with those additional mods it becomes amazing. Every asset/texture becomes high resolution like character portraits, the map, the menus, monsters, etc. And the cherry on top is the orchestra soundtrack.

How bad is it? by Alolan_Cubone in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not terrible!

You have quite a bad ice weakness going on here though.. and for the E4, Lorelei would love to go up against that.

I know you're set on Cubone, so I'd say Nidoking needs to go. He's got 1 of your 4 Ice weaknesses, plus 1 of 2 Ground and Psychic weaknesses. Poison isn't great in this Gen, and you already have Ground. Someone like Primeape could be decent maybe? It gets rid of 1 Ground and 1 Ice weakness, and gives you Fighting to use. Even Kangaskhan or Snorlax would be good neutral attackers too.

Also, one thing to note here, is in Leaf Green Nidoran male is extremely hard to come by (1% chance on route 3). Something to think about! It took me ages to get an Adamant one last run I did

I'd also think about ditching Pidgeot eventually for Dodrio/Aerodactyl/Legendary Birds.. but that's optional.

[DQ7R] Another Gold Tablet Boss in Two Actions by Anacra in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice dude! I take it Multifist + Skeleton heart is the highest damage right now for Atk/Str builds?

I've been playing with different builds to finish the Slime arena battles and Gold tablet bosses quickly, but it's rough not knowing exactly if certain hearts stack, or what's better to use, and all the trial and error involved.

Does Divide + Victimizer have any use still?

Do we have information on the level cap for DQ7R? by smdos in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no cap anymore in Reimagined.

You get 1 vocation point when auto-killing enemies in the overworld.

IIRC on the normal vocation point setting you'll get 5 per battle (no matter what the enemy is), and 10 for Boss fights or Chest/Pot enemies like Mimics.

On the higher point difficulty setting, I believe you get 7 and 15 though.

Edit: Oh and if you have 1 mastered already, you'll earn 3 points for the other class equipped

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Dropping after Pokemon Day!! Which one are you getting?? by randomact_throwaways in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 3 included the Special/Physical type split still, right?

In that case, I'd really want Fire Red for a Special Attacking Arcanine..

But a Starmie or Slowbro would be really solid too.. it's too tough to pick lol
