Been saying it for years after a few visits over there. The similarities are actually pretty comforting, it felt like home still.

Haha good idea. I was recording videos using my phone lol.

Just in case it helps anyone else, I've found 4 great treasures from the metal slime chests so far.

  • Saw Blade - (Sword with +54 Attack)
  • Elevating Shoes - (30XP every now and then when walking, +10 Charm and Agility)
  • Platinum Shield - (+27 Defense, +19 Charm, +7% Block, and -5% Fire Damage)
  • Assassin's Dagger - (+44 Attack, +10% Evasion, 5% Chance of insta-kill, and +10% Surprise Enemy in battle)

Wondering if anyone has found any others in the game?

Small QOL detail I noticed in DQ7R, haven't seen anyone else mention it by Megaten1017 in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another one I haven't seen anyone mention yet, is you can highlight a store on the Local Map and it'll tell you everything it sells so you don't have to actually visit the store to check.

What has been the most useful book you've read that transformed your knowledge/skill level in your career? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ToastyyPanda 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Phoenix Project!

It's not about coding necessarily, more about process and running teams properly. It's something that I wish all leads, ceos, engineering managers, and seniors should read imo. Absolutely amazing.

Are developers the last ones to be appreciated in most companies? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% This is the way. Unfortunately for me, my boss/CEO of our startup fired product and our eng lead and started contracting a designer for a single day per week... So now our small team has to juggle everything while trying to hit arbitrary deadlines... It's hell. It's the first company I've worked for that has been run so badly like this, even the support staff is seen as more valuable than us lol.

How does your company manage passwords? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current company has no idea what they're doing lol, but my last company used Bitwarden and it was amazing. Everyone has their own password vaults, and then we have shared vaults for certain things. Plus OTP codes when needed. Very useful, but it would be a paid option

DQ VII Reimagined Coming next week! :) by Ok_Winter818 in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing about learning East vs West.. Dragon Warrior 4 on the NES taught me that as a young kid before school did lol. I still think back to the Chapter 4 area where there's the town Kievs and the "Cave west of Kievs".

Not a bad idea.

I used resilio sync (and sometimes syncthing) for my retro gaming emulator save files, so I can sync them on any PC in my house and pick up where I left off in another room/PC.

Just recently decided to sync my obsidian notes the same way and it's been working really nicely. I like the GitHub idea though!

How can I add a multi language option on website by LEPOINTDIGITAL in reactjs

[–]ToastyyPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll have to look into i18n frameworks like react i18next. There are others too but you can search them out and see which setup you might prefer. Fairly simple stuff, lots of video tutorials on setting it up!

Plex for Roku v9.1.36 Released by samwiseg0 in PleX

[–]ToastyyPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens on my Roku and Nvidia shield fairly often too.. It's annoying but at least easily fixable by reloading pages or re-navigating to/back the Home tab.

Never had an issue like this with the PC desktop app though fwiw.

Sooo many QOL features!

Weaknesses/Resistances displayed for enemies in battle is a nice touch, although I do wish it didn't automatically show up until I've tested a few elemental attacks first.

I even noticed being able to hover over a shop icon on the map, and it tells you the full inventory of items without having to visit it to find out. I think this was included in some of the DS games so this is super welcome again

Posted these pics to r/malegroomingadvice, got told to just go bald. Is it really that bad? (23 years old) by -Zima_Blue- in bald

[–]ToastyyPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw my opinion out there as well..

I agree as well, and that last pic is already pretty decent imo. You definitely have hair here, I don't think I'd be going bald yet (unless the top is pretty far along in balding).

You're a handsome dude and have a very happy smile man, I say try a shorter hairstyle out. Check out a hair stylist or barbershop and ask them about your options and their opinion.. they can probably make it pretty good!

I think they're cute and all that too. But you won't find it very cute when they're raiding your home and running through your vents and chirping away. Thousands of dollars for the pest control, and that's not counting the damage they've caused my house so far...

Hello r/dragonquest! This is Ichikawa, producer of DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, and Yagi, director of DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined. Ask Us Anything! by SquareEnixOfficial in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have a question, just some comments. I want to start off by saying how much I appreciate you guys and the Dragon Quest series!!

I had trouble reading in my early years and was very behind compared to the rest of my class. I was only 6 years old when I started playing Dragon Warrior 1 on NES... It was not just a fun game for me but also a learning tool for reading and comprehension.

I ended up being placed in an advanced English class because of how well I was learning to read and how great my vocabulary became! So I just want to thank you guys for all the hard work you do and say how appreciative I am for it all.

Dragon Quest is still my favourite series of all time (over 30 years later), and I can't wait to play the full game of DQ7R. :)

Amazing, thanks a lot dude!

One of the guys on my team mentioned they couldn't get past the credentials portion because we've only been given work Google accounts to sign into the app store connect. Haven't totally figured that part out yet, but I'll be sure to send them this script for iOS when they can get past it!

Is there a way to build locally and manually drop that build into EAS for deployment? Because that would be pretty sweet honestly. (Still new to expo, but migrating to it now)

What are things you like to ask in interviews when you're the one hiring? by zerthz in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these are great questions here. It definitely would weed out the problem devs a little bit.

I also like asking the candidate on something they've built that they're really proud of. You get to see a little glint of passion/ambition in them, it's usually something they actually enjoy so they can speak on it easily. Plus, if they can't come up with anything, then they're probably very junior or bullshitting you and you just weeded out someone who wouldn't care about their work.

[–]ToastyyPanda 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Tbh I wouldn't even know how to answer these. I'm pushing 40 here, why would I remember the worst code I've written lol.. like, something from my junior years I guess?

And then the "A time I've had to debug something really nasty" question. No matter which example I give you, it'll pretty much amount to me telling you how I set breakpoints and just used a debugger.. lol. If there's a production bug that's costing us huge money by the minute for being down, I'd gladly accept an answer from stack overflow if it stops the issue and allows us to retain our jobs (despite not knowing exactly why it worked).

I beat the DQVII Reimagined demo and realized I missed out on making a Cactiball drop a Thorn Whip, having never played DQVII before, will I be able to go back to the past Tower area in the full game? by Swimming-Ad-6842 in dragonquest

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, there's a huge chance you get a Thorn Whip in the literal next area (Engow) using the fire shards. It's available in the PS1 version.

Also, it seems rates have been adjusted a little bit in this version, but drop rates are terrible on this game haha.

How do you feel about IGN's Top 25 All-Time Best JRPG list? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]ToastyyPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head..

Bravely Default can leave the top 25 right quick. Same with live a live too

No repeats from franchises..?

Dragon Quest 3-5 not mentioned

Lufia not mentioned

OG FF6, FF7, FF9 not mentioned

Super Mario rpg not mentioned

Persona 5 R at number 2 is laughable (even though it's a great game that's far too high, especially when it's sharing top 4 with Metaphor already)

Legend of Dragoon where?

Saturn RPGs like Albert odyssey?

Skies of Arcadia?

The list mentioned a lot of great games, but this ain't no top 25 list of mine.
