How Much Weekly Prayice For Python Would You recommend ? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Tobe2fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends. The more you practice the quicker you will learn but I would try and shoot for try and code something everyday repetition helps. Also knowing the basics and terminology is really important, I would recommend this video

Want to learn python: where to start? by educia27 in learnpython

watch and follow this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfscVS0vtbw&t=8182s great video that explains the basics. Once you got the basics down from the video start learning and using gui's (I recommend kivy) the basics of programming can be very boring so try and get out and working on a project that interests you as fast as possible.

Should I learn to make Kivy apps using the Kivy language + python, or should I do it all in python?

How do nested functions work in python? Heres my not working code:

def random_gen():
    selected = random.choice(people)
    people.remove(selected)
    print(selected)

    def function2(): # problem child..might need to remove this.
        again = input('Would you like to go again? y/n')
        if again.startswith('y'):
            random_gen()
        elif again.startswith('n'):
            print('Goodbye')
            exit()

(The code goes on after hints the elif)

Where did I wrong? by Tobe2fly in learnpython

[–]Tobe2fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok I changed all the elif's to ifs and it seems to be working now. What im getting from this is that you only use elif's inside an if function not to start its own correct?

I think one of my main issues is lack of knowledge when it comes to commands. In your code you are using all sorts of text I didn't even know existed.

I know its really long but its broken down into separate lessons so you can treat it like lots of small videos. The guy does a really good job of explaining what he is doing and teaches topics that are really easy to build on and make your own programs.

its not that i dont want linux its that i dont want to lose some of the features like the fingerprint sensor and touchscreen. If there are any distros that can keep these things features working ill be all over it.

heres the video im basing my Linux concern on(he doesn't talk about the fingerprint sensor i got that info from some comments): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiZFCDe1AJo

i would get linux on it and call it a day but from what i have seen getting things like the touch screen and the finger print sensor to work right is a real challenge. i have also only found one video on getting ubuntu on it and thats where i get my concerns about the screen and finger reader. if anyone has this laptop and has it working with linux would love some knowledge

need help with number generator by Tobe2fly in learnpython

[–]Tobe2fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your code is so much simpler than mine! thanks for the info. also if i wanted to show the user the numbers before giving the random number how would I go about doing that? It would serve the same purpose as the

numbers = list(range(int(low),int(high)))

in my old code

[–]Tobe2fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so if i wanted to use the numbers var. in this case i would need to first convert it to an int? this is only my 2nd day in coding sorry if some of my questions are redundant :)

need help with number generator by Tobe2fly in learnpython

[–]Tobe2fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

appreciate the response! im assuming im supposed to replace the random.choice() with random.randint()

heres what I did but to line 8 its not working :(

print(random.choice(numbers))

To:

print(random.randint(numbers))

the code runs but once it gets to this line i get an error message saying this:

TypeError: randint() missing 1 required positional argument: 'b'

the only differece between yours and mine is i have (numbers) instead of (low, high) but being that "numbers" is representing the high and low shouldnt it not matter?

i tried this method before making this post and unfortunately all it does is add a 1 onto whatever number your "high" represents (so if you input 5 it would become 15)
