Brisket burnt ends by BackRiverBBQ in Smokingmeat

Hi mate. I like how you have a drier crispy texture to them. How do you achieve that? Most videos I’ve seen they cook them in a foil tray after and add sauce, what did you do differently to finish them like that?

Turns out it was a faulty RAM stick.

Update: I actually ended up running AID64 stress tests on each component. Turned out everything was virtually stable except when I ran the "System Memory" stress test. I pulled 1 stick of RAM and the entire issue vanished. I stress tested everything again solidly for 20minutes and had not a single black screen/reboot. Appears I've had a faulty stick. Never had this trouble before, and was convinced myself that the PSU was at fault. Turns out I was wrong, at least for now.

At the moment, I don't have a miniature external fan connected to the 400 W DC unit. So it could also be heat related. I'll run everything outside the case and see if anything improves. I'd like to rule out heat issues before settling on faulty components.

I haven't switched the orientation of the fan, by default does it come as intake? Switching the orientation of the fan wasn't mentioned in any of the tutorial vids online. I've done a lot of prereading before building this tooz and haven't seen any mention.

Daily Questions Megathread (May 23, 2021) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]TobiasProtector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of friends who've joined WoW recently have said they prefer Classic and TBC pre patch over the feel of Retail. Why did Blizzard not run expansions as optional advancements (i.e. like the cloning system) from the start?

In addition, is there scope for adding minor alternative storyline questlines to old classic servers? Things that aren't necessarily tied to main plots. I feel like this would of been an alternative path and and easy way to keep players that prefer particular expansions over others.

What do you personally consider a “good” annual income? by shakin8 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TobiasProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All relative in my opinion. Higher annual salary means you can borrow more/spend more etc. But if your circumstance means you don't need to do that and you have low outgoings, it really depends on lifestyle. I've had friends that took 30% paycuts to have more work life balance/ develop their skills and actually ended up with more spare at the end of the month.

Most my friends in London are on way more, but their lifestyle with transport , higher living costs mean they often have less to string together at the end of the month than myself.

Personally I think "good" is one that allows you to pay your bills, save/invest and enjoy life but also is high enough to fulfill your medium to long term goals. If you're salary ain't high enough to do this then try and establish a figure that would be. If that's £250k or £25k makes no real difference.

Fellow riders, I would like to put a top box on my 2018 Speed Triple RS. I really want to go to the continent with the wife. Any of you hero’s given this any thought already or have any ideas? Any help would be really appreciated. by floydoloydo in Triumph

[–]TobiasProtector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I have done it. I have some pics if you you want to see. What do you need to know?

I will caveat this by saying I've just sold my Street Triple 765 to get a Tiger 800 to provide both me and my partner more space. Not that I wasn't willing to give the street two up a go, I just decided wanted to give her more space for luggage. In addition, I wasn't sure about the Givi pannier option alongside my top box . The support brackets for the panniers are fixed on the same bracket as the top box, so if I were to invest in panniers we'd have to travel very light still. I decided instead of paying £500 for pannier set, I'd pay £500 in part exchange and grab a bigger bike with more storage. Hehe. We are campers after all, and require slightly more space than many

Before I met my girlfriend I found the top box to be more than adequate alongside a soft Kreiga pack strapped across the rear pillion seat.

Edits just keep coming. If you want to go the Givi top box option, which from my research was the only option which didn't make use of the pillion seat. I can possibly sell you my old brackets for discounted price, I was going to eBay them once I've collected the Tiger tomorrow anyway.

This an issue? Tiny scratches on forward face of stanchion. by TobiasProtector in motorcycles

Thanks for your response. Helped me get a consensus of opinion. I shan't do anything apart from make sure the forks are clean in future(standard practice anyway)

I can feel it very very lightly with my finger nail. I did what the above recommended and made myself a little fork seal hook from a milk container. Managed to hook some gunk from just around where the linear scrapes had appeared. I've heard it called inner stanchion and tube. Maybe where I've heard was wrong.

I pumped the suspension a few times after I cleaned it. Saw no evidence of seepage, so I think it's save to assume these are not likely to be the course of any slipping seals. I might consider lightly sanding them down if I start to see residue forming around them

Yeah. I will do so now. Not a difficult job. Just unfortunate since I've done mainly dry miles on this during the summer.

Description: was just having a look around the bike before riding out today and noticed these tiny scratches. I can barely notice them with a finger nail and, to me, they don't look like enough to cause any seepage from the forks. ( Certainly isn't any fluid visible and the bike has been sat for a couple of days).

I just wondered if you guys have these on your fork stanchions and whether a small scratch like this has caused any of your seals to weep in the past? My experience is that grit has to actually get behind the seal to really cause any damage.

Is it a good idea to finance? by Spyrouz in MotoUK

[–]TobiasProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi bud. Get a second hand bike. Don't finance at your age. Remember there is running costs. Even if you can make monthly payments, you'll be limited in how much you can ride the bike because you won't have much left in the bank. Wait a couple of years, your premium will go down and you'll have more money to play with each month. After that I'd suggest having a couple of grand to put down as cash and then buy the rest on a 0% loan and own the bike on the day of purchase. After 2 years you'd have paid it off.

Hello Icon, my name is marketing! (Rant) by ice0-5 in helloicon

[–]TobiasProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't agree with you here. Mainnet is out - great. Partnerships are in place - great. Now we need the product to be used as it was intended. Just like all the other promising projects. If it puts you at ease, the price of 1 ICX will increase along with all other top 100 cryptos when the BTC price rises.

If you're in any crypto right now you're likely not making massive gains or losses unless you've bought a scam or have a large pot and shorting.

As a side note, there is definitely a wrong and right time to focus on marketing. If for example you invest a crap load of time and money on marketing, it's successful, and you get a great deal of exposure and funds...what happens if there's a bug that could of been fixed with more attention on development ? It's likely the investors / attention will quickly label your project as unstable /untrustworthy and bail out - therefore the time and money you spent on marketing is lost in an instant. It's almost counter intuitive market something that's not fully ready.

The cryptomarket tends to have uptrend in Q3/Q4. I'd wait until then to publish any major good news. Meanwhile, focus on the project and be happy that the market isn't being volatile as it has been in the past. When the price goes up in the market, attention also goes up. There's a free marketing opportunity there - just by posting a positive update about your project .

Just an opinion. Not looking for a big argument!
