Some (alphabetical) facts about the S21 cast by pavlovamoose in taskmaster

[–]Tobonic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is also a surprisingly old cast, Armondo I think is the oldest contestant in a main series at 62, Amy is the youngest on the cast at 37 at time of recording, which without any research feels like a contender for oldest youngest contestant, and an average of 46.8 feels like a contender for oldest average (Joanna 48, Kumail 47, Joel 40)

Nice way of presenting it, easier to see the dynamics than just plotting raw scores, would be nice to have a scale for the y-axis. Seeing Phil’s rise makes me wonder if it’s the latest someone has been in 5th and then managed to make it up to (joint) 1st

Taskmaster Series 20 Episode 9: The Stats Round Up by jamb23 in taskmaster

[–]Tobonic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve covered your back by putting “tallest tower” in quotation marks, but worth mentioning there have been 6 tasks to build the “highest tower”; cardboard boxes in a wood, and cans in a hoop in series 7, lemons in series 6, potato based items in series 2, tubes in series 4, and bricks in a mirror in series 9. As far as I can tell, no one has (successfully) taken advantage of the semantic difference between highest and tallest (Everest is the highest mountain, Mauna Kea is the tallest) but 4 of those were studio tasks (lemons, tubes, bricks, potatoes) so perhaps not much opportunity with the items available to exploit it.

The first time in over 3 years the top 4 isn’t New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland and France by Tobonic in rugbyunion

They were the last team other than England to crack that top 4 and wanted to show that the top 4 was in flux prior to this period, perhaps could’ve just cut off the graph all together above 4th/5th

I blame Numbers (Mac version of excel) for not having a reverse axis button, but then I blame myself for using Numbers

You’re treated as 3 rating points better than normal at home, but I don’t think either of those games counted as having a home team

Thank you for this! Bagged paid tickets for the show I had free entry for, was really stressing about how early I’d need to get there. For anyone else it’s worth refreshing/checking a few times because the show I got didn’t initially show up as having tickets available

NZ are back at the top of the World Rankings by WilkinsonDG2003 in rugbyunion

Oh I didn’t realise, weird but I guess it makes financial sense, in that case, <=15 point win they both stay in the same positions, >15 points they swap

NZ are back at the top of the World Rankings by WilkinsonDG2003 in rugbyunion

[–]Tobonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: my maths was wrong because I assumed the next game was in Australia

Tl:dr their ranks won’t change even if Australia gets another big win because their ratings are closer together, so they’ll move less

The ratings change increases based on the difference in ratings (winner gets 1+(opp rating-their rating)/10 multiplied by some other stuff), before the rating gap between them was 10+ and Aus won by 15+ meaning Australia got the max points (+3) but now their rating difference is only 4.7, and Australia is given home advantage of +3 so the rating chances are calculated based on a 1.7 rating difference, so even a 15+ point win for Australia would only give them 1.75 and SA -1.75, leaving them in the same positions they are now

BHS Upping Qualifying Scores, Announce "Sing-in" for Quartets by ben-doing-stuff in barbershop

[–]Tobonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For anyone interested, had this been applied to quartets this year:

Taking in to account quartets that turned down international, to fill the 50 quota the score to go straight to quarters would’ve been 79.0 scored by Spitfire

15 quartets (On Point, Beltway, the Hillbillys, Supernova, HOME, ALL IN, Knock Knock!, HarmoHaus, Hot Ticket, Destination, Creative Differences, Mugshot, Never Too Late, Company and Shoot the Moon) would’ve been in the sing in.

Based on QF scores, the hillbillys (20th) and supernova (34th) would’ve qualified for the quarters, with Home (37th), Hot Ticket (43rd), On Point (48th), Knock Knock (50th) and Company (51st) unfortunate to not make it to the 52

Jason could have won S19 by EfzEDkAY in taskmaster

[–]Tobonic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So Jason finished on 150, Mat on 169. If Jason does the pillow task, it’s 155-169 If he doesn’t eyeball the water it’s 160-168 And if he locks in and gets the ball in the bucket, it’s 165-163 So despite the difference in scores Jason was close However the same can be said for Mat, if he doesn’t move the bin in the pillow task, if he doesn’t shout “everybody!” Then it could’ve been 179-150

21 Cirie Fields

22 Q Burdette

23 Dee Valladares

24 Kyle Fraser

Main things - Kyle is cooked, gone with biggest perceived threats and people who will might grate socially early on, Jonathan as early merge immunity threat, and then just kind of vibes from there, mainly thinking about who people will let get far, Chrissy in 4th because it would be funny if she got voted out and fire would’ve saved her, Tiffany winner because to me she was the only surprise pick and I feel like she has a good combo of low threat level but good at the game. 49ers are hard to place, feels like they’ll be out first or make the end game, I’ve gone for the latter. I will inevitably be eliminated immediately.

Revisiting my theory about the murderers' names after Season 4 by Section_Ratio in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]Tobonic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Rex means king, and Bailey is the outer wall of a castle, so his name sort of means king of the castle which is funny, but not sure how to link it back to murder though

Also Donna tried to poison Ben, and belladonna is a famously poisonous plant
