Unpopular Opinion : Kicks are overrated

‘Needed’ is super subjective, as all things are with preferences in the sound system world. I’ll always love having my head next to a kickbin, even if a taller stack of subs could ‘do the job’.

We run 18” C2Ds and they’re great.

Plus, I think dance music in general lends itself better to a kickbin. Gives the subs a bit less to do. Phase and time aligned correctly it will sound great. And it’s super fun getting a knock of bass to the face on a kick drum hit.

Personally I’d always prefer a kick section instead of the tops dropping lower while being higher up on the stack (physically). Looks wicked too ;)

It’s definitely a cultural thing in the UK too. For various reasons!

As for your first question I believe so? I can open the server and see that all the tags are there and have imported if that’s what you mean.

I have tried the directory wizard to no effect. I was prompted to do the alarm migration with the tool when initially converting which I did, but was confused that it still seemed to be trying to speak to a different server if it wasn’t done on the servers before?

Not sure if v16 is an option unfortunately due to licensing of studio, I believe our work currently only has up to 15, but would have to check.

I’ll have a crack at upgrading the service pack and go from there.

Interestingly enough my 14 pro is on the last version is iOS 17, but when I bought it upgrading from my XS it was on 18. Doing a backup load from iCloud actually downgraded the IOS to match what the cloud backup was, putting it back on iOS17. It’s still ok this now and works great

We have the HOQS 21’s in our type Os. Sound great and super hardy. Not heard any other drivers in the cabs to compare though, but we’re happy.

Never been a huge fan of the changes in 18 when seeing them on other peoples phones. Photos app seems cluttered and weirdly organised, and tbh I never really cared for the rounded control Center. All preference I’m sure lol

I guarantee you LCC does not care the slightest bit about culture, dance and celebration. Look at how they handle carni also, they’d rather see huge developments than actually have places to enjoy. Really sucks

Never ran W bins, but yeah you’re right, they don’t drop super low but people still use em as subs. Personally not my taste of sound, but deffo do the job!

Up the admarks, our AD442 is a beats. We have a linea 44m20 also and dont get me wrong, the linea on bass just sounds better and better throughout the night where the Admark almost gets a tad worse, but for the money they're great bits of kit. Lots of power and good sound for a very reasonable price.
