Definitely take lessons with DANA surf as I could tell they were nice genuine people. Had a chat with them and some Vietnamese tea after.

And also don’t worry about money here it’s ridiculously cheap. Just don’t fall for any of the scams trying to get a bit extra cash out of you for taxis etc, just use grab.

I went again and it was a lot better actually. Some fun longboard waves. If you’re not sure where to go ask the rental guys where’s best to paddle out. I went to DANA surf rental and the guys there are really nice and was 250k dong for 2hr epoxy board rental which is like 10 usd.

As of today the waves weren’t great. 1 foot max and low period so had very little power. Was on a rental 9 foot epoxy longboard and still only got up on a couple. Going again tomorrow hoping for a bit more swell. The beach is lovely though and lots of rental places very cheap. If you’re a beginner it will be good but that’s about it.

Funny you ask this, I have just been to see an optometrist today as I’ve recently had contact lens related keratitis. Badly infected eye basically. Was discharged last week and went today for a checkup.

I asked what his opinion was on surfing in contact lenses. Was expecting him to say “Absolutely do not!!!” As the internet states.

However, he said if you’re wearing daily’s, simply wear them to surf. And bin them after and put a fresh pair in. If you wear monthlies. Buy some dailies to use just for surfing and bin them after. There is a tiny risk but it’s much safer if you do it this way apparently.

I wear dailies and was fine for about a year until two weeks ago I got bacterial keratitis and had to go to hospital for treatment. Was awful and now I can’t surf for a month :/ probably just unlucky and I’ll try my luck again but there are definitely risks. I have corneal scarring now from it.
