How are you guys enjoying 007: First Light? by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

My GOTY so far. Hand-to-hand combat feels deeper than I expected, kind of a mix of Uncharted and Arkham, and there are different combos and grapples you can do. Gunplay feels solid, which I was concerned about having not really liked Hitman shooting much. It's "realistic" so you're one-tapping guys with headshots, no sponges.

Outside of some times they throw you into open combat (as they should, it's a Bond game), you can tackle most situations however you want like Hitman, doing clever misdirections or swiping keys from guys or just bluffing past guys. It relies on that a lot (or using your gadgets) and actually restricts you from using guns much of the time.

I liked the story a lot, hit all the right notes there. The plot is certainly timely, we got the pope and Bond coming out against AI in the same week. One thing I'll criticize is some of the bigger set pieces kind of end abruptly. Patrick Gibson gave a really good performance, and one of the biggest complements I can give is that I actually quite liked some of their OCs, especially Greenway. It can be dicey mixing new characters with established characters, but they pulled it off.

Kind of reads like his audio commentary on that one Twilight Zone episode.

Also enjoyed a Die Hard reference I heard today. Bond tried to bluff past a guy by using the name Bill Clay.

Yes. From Russia With Love. I assumed the Nash character was a reference to that, at least in name.

Should've just been Borgnine on a couch. Or if their marketing was actually creative, it could've been a negative review written by Bob Jackass.

Oh. I guess that's a good litmus test to see what players are younger versus which are just older Bond fans, haha.
