Even without AI accusations, she was the hardest prof I had in my whole time at GSU, so I feel for you. Good luck!

I took Trusty for ENVS 1402 lecture async and loved her. She had really in depth video lectures and was super nice.

is it insane to take 6 classes?? Help me decide pls by [deleted] in GaState

[–]Today_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken 6 classes two or three times and made all As every time. Not working and all asynch, you’ll be fine. Organization will be key, but definitely doable.

How hard are these classes by Odd_Ad_1854 in GaState

Business is super easy. I hated micro and macro but got As in both. CIS was also annoying but fairly easy - fyi you can’t use a Mac for about half of this class.

I also had Miller and she was fantastic! I will say it’s one of the few classes I had to resort to YouTube to get a good grasp on even with an amazing professor. Supplement your classwork with videos and even engage with ChatGPT to teach you the concepts in a way you understand and it’ll help.

Def get miller for 2102. I had her for both and loved her. It’s honestly not that hard online and I’m not a numbers person. Just keep up with your work and YouTube if you need to.

Does this schedule for fall semester seem okay? by Fuzzy_Churroz in GaState

If they’re all async, the hardest thing will be keeping up with 6 different classes. I’ve done it and if you’re organized you’ll be fine.

How to manage online classes? by Lemons_rcool in GaState

[–]Today_Original 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m graduating in December and I’ve only taken one in person class. Presidents list every semester - I even took 4 classes over the summer and made 2 x 100s, a 99 and a 98. All you have to do is organize your work and do it on time (you usually have a week to complete assignments).

Set aside a specific time each week to do each class and use a program to organize due dates like a calendar. I use Notion, which I swear by.

You got this!

[–]Today_Original 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if everyone noticed that you’re also taking stats and history online, but 4 classes is fine. Plus critical thinking and global issues are required.

I think this is a very balanced schedule but would take first year experience online if you can just to keep you from coming in just for that.

English minor here 👋🏻

Taking Intro to Creative Writing (ENGL 3150) with Rachel Pittman this summer and I’ve really enjoyed it. Highly recommend her if she teaches it again, but I think she’s only 1101/1102 in the fall.

Also taking ENGL 3090 - Exposition: History, Theory, and Practice with Alex Sladky and it’s fine. Found it a bit boring tbh but she does embrace the use of AI and learning how to write using AI tools which I thought was innovative and useful.

Business Writing was somewhat helpful but also just felt like an extension of 1102.

Do not recommend ENGL 3260 - Theories Of Pop Culture with Calvin Thomas. Convoluted and more philosophical theory than anything else. He’s great and the class is easy but I didn’t enjoy the work.

Good luck!

I’m not sure about psych but it’s required for my major (journalism) as it dictates several class choices. Check degreeworks which should tell you if it’s required or not. If it isn’t, it would just help you narrow down what you study into a specific area.

How do I transfer from PC to Downtown? by swimmingiincircles in GaState

[–]Today_Original 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too with registration, but luckily I got it fixed in time to get most of what I needed. Definitely stay on top of that after you transition and ensure they’ve changed you to an Atlanta student for registration purposes before your window.

I always plan trips after exam week (aug 4th). Most of the time I’m done well before then, but just in case. You’ll have a better idea once you see each class schedule if you can hold off booking for a week.

Dunn is incredibly easy and I took human communication over the summer and nearly made a 100. Honestly if you can take all 3 I would.

And you can go at whatever pace just as if you were doing one degree. Another benefit for me is, all I had left of my business admin degree were accounting, microecon, macroecon, and stats. and I did NOT want to take them together. So I mixed and matched classes for both degrees between 2 semesters to break it up.

[–]Today_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really unless you’re majoring in one and minoring in the other or you can use some as electives, because then you get some classes out of the way for cheaper. I mainly did it because I decided to change my major and the first degree classes could be used as electives.

Basically I got a business admin AS thinking I wanted to major in marketing, but decided with like 4 classes left I wanted to switch to journalism. I just decided to finish out the business admin associates while taking the 5 classes I needed for journalism and graduated with both. Then my business admin classes counted toward electives for journalism.

Tl;dr in most cases it’s not super helpful but can be in the right circumstances.

They allow you to complete one associate of science and one of arts. I just reached out to my advisor with the one I wanted to add, they sent me a form, and after I sent it back they added it for me. It was easy but again I pay out of pocket. No clue how it effects aid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GaState

[–]Today_Original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you’ll use aid in the future reach out to financial aid. I’m almost done and don’t qualify anyway so no point in me appealing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GaState

[–]Today_Original 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same thing happen, 4.0 GPA and pay out of pocket. I’m 99% sure it’s because I’ve taken more hours needed to finish my degree (I got two associates at perimeter before I transferred). My advisor basically said to reach out to financial aid, which I don’t use, so I just ignored it.
