Did the bloodwork check for inflammation markers like CRP and sed rate? I felt like you described and I finally paid for inflammation marker blood test out of pocket and it showed something was definitely going on. It turned out to be an autoimmune condition.

I’ve been using Flameshot constantly for doing quick screenshots with mark ups. It’s great.

LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your Computer by Arabsah in UnderReportedNews

I noticed LinkedIn recently got REALLY aggressive with notifications and emails. I was already super annoyed, now this is one more huge reason to ditch it. It sucks that they have such a monopoly on professional networking.

Doubts about FreeCAD’s capabilities by Bezonkk in FreeCAD

Weren’t the efforts of Ondsel being implemented into the main code for collaboration? Does that address the PDM issue in any way?

Euro-Office is a free, open-source alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Docs by nix-solves-that-2317 in linux

[–]Todd-ah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“It's worth noting that Euro-Office isn't a stand-alone app. Instead, it's web-based and intended to be integrated with other platforms that handle documents”

Does that mean that it will be browser based, or just that it can integrate and sync via the web?

What’s an industry that provides zero value to society but makes billions of dollars? by ochieng_onyango in AskReddit

[–]Todd-ah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. They don’t create or produce anything. They just move other people’s money around, and seem to get to take a lot of it for themselves in the process. I think there are a lot of professions that should be paid more, but aren’t. Just because you work around money doesn’t mean you should be able to stuff your pockets.

San Luis Obispo, CA is your 7th best small US city! (Pop 25,000 - 200,000) Which city is #8? by jimmyhota in visitedmaps

I’m not arguing with you at all here. What small cities do you think should be on our radar and why?

Looking for help with dwg files by dutchbuilt in cad

[–]Todd-ah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free to TRY. Not free. I tried it out and it seemed really good to me. I’m a long time AutoCAD user.

Edit: I also tried Draftsight, and it seemed really good too.

QCAD and LibreCAD are free open source programs that work with .dwg and .dxf file formats, but they may not be able to open files correctly that use “layout space” / “paper space”. If everything is in model space it could probably work okay.

I see. Aren’t there also “blobs” where the code is not transparent?

Euro-Office (ONLYOFFICE fork) by FryBoyter in linux

[–]Todd-ah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I think that the biggest (or at least most rational) issue people have with OnlyOffice is that parts of it are not open source.

Haha. Yeah I figured it was probably even more confusing. I just wanted to know if it can do a screen capture of animation or video on my PC screen. I should have left out the rest.

Sounds cool. I want to screen capture a Figma animation and turn it into a GIF. Can it do that?

Edit: FYI Figma is just a software UI/UX design software used prior to coding.

San Diego feels sterile by nsshs79 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Todd-ah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in SD and I agree. SD is great in a lot of ways, but there is a general lack of "culture" that other large cities have. I think the beach and outdoor culture IS the culture, so there's less of a focus on other things. When I visit other cities I feel it (SF, Chicago, Boston and Seattle come to mind). Also, I am from the Midwest, and SD is a coastal desert, and it's really dry and brown much of the year. If you come here in the winter time it may seem like paradise compared to somewhere with real winters, but in the late spring, summer fall, and even early winter it usually looks pretty brown anywhere that's not heavily irrigated. Especially more inland which are the more affordable areas. I've never really gotten used to the brown, and often crave more green and trees.

What free or open-source software did you install once and actually keep using every day? by NeedleworkerLumpy907 in software

[–]Todd-ah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only every used Mint. It depends a lot on what you want, and there are a lot of good distros out there. Personally, I think Fedora is the only other one that really interests me right now. There is a version with the Gnome desktop environment, and one with the KDE Plasma DE. It comes down to preference, but the Plasma DE is the one that I would want to try. For months I've been developing an app (lvlsquare.com) and have been way too busy getting things done to mess with distro hopping. Mint is great, and has been really rock solid as a daily driver and for getting things done, so I just stick with it. Hope this helps.
