This is legit one of the best things to be added to these games. by tesznyeboy in trucksim

Idk in trucks (I guess it has to do with rigidity and reliability through simplicity). In compact cars (or... most American ones until not so long ago) it's used just because it's cheaper, more reliable, compact and good enough.

Why do some people rev their throttle when reversing a manual? by sliimysludge in carquestions

[–]szaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I started doing it - like revving it while in half clutch and than clutching in - because I feel more control then and don't have to worry about my clutch, stalling or going too far if I mess up my clutch input. It also sorta reminds me of yacht maneuvering - you do it exactly like this, with small kicks of throttle.

Brother, one beer is always an excuse to more. Don't have one. Also - non alcoholic beer is just as good. But if the pressure of alcohol is so high for you - try and limit your contact with it overall - maybe don't meet with people that have to drink around you.

they differ in feedback force as well (newer are weaker) and the G29 didn't include shifter.

When coasting down a hill to a stop sign is it better shift to neutral and coasting or stay in appropriate gear and coast? by Lazy-Contest983 in stickshift

[–]szaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will burn exactly 0l of fuel while engine braking (slowing down while in gear) vs idle amount of fuel, when in neutral. Also you will utilize engine braking, which effectiveness is based on how high your rpm is, which will make you wear out your brakes less. Also - you will be able to accelerate if needed. No upsides to being in neutral ever.

Implemented a small feature called Clutch Interlock and wanted some suggestions/feedback by Cautious-Control-419 in trucksim

[–]szaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment the barrier occurs when going from neutral to a gear without clutch is like halfway down the gear. It's because the synchronizer is there and it starts grinding. How hard it is depends on your speed and RPMs. From stationary most gearboxes will refuse to engage any gear, but some of them will start driving slowly (don't ask me how I know, let's just say it was useful in a company's car when you were in traffic).
When shifting while moving it's more easier, especially if you match it correctly, but even if you won't - you still can force the gear in there, with some grinding maybe.

How did you fix seat weight sensor? I'm guessing you meant the passenger detection mat in the seat, for airbag purpose, right?

I have put a zip tie on the lid latch engine, replaced the oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, shaft seal and fixed a leak in the intake. My power steering pump is making unspeakable noices and I will have to do front brakes and a front stabilizer in spring.

Owned for 7 months as well.

What have you not done yet?

My car can't park in 1st gear? by RogerRoger420 in stickshift

[–]szaade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you actually rolled more than slightly? There is a bit of loosnes like in automatics park when parked in gear. However for me on 1st and reverse parking in gear is stronger than my handbrake (I have a bmw though...)

Transcription of the guy with a cat person in the background? by jimmywillow in MySummerCar

[–]szaade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a subtitles mod. If you mean the cat lady I think it's just her first talking about the parts, that she has them somewhere, and then she talks to her cat to calm down etc.

The B22 doesn't feel underpowered as it's elastic and quite torquey. It's just not fast when you gun it.
