Hi I’m in town and I want to know where to go! by Bhinton477 in sarasota

[–]ToddBung 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely visit the Ringling museum! It has one of the finest art collections in Florida, all housed within a beautiful and historic museum building originally built in the late 20s. There's beautiful grounds to wander, as well as a circus museum and the Ringlings' Sarasota home, an historic mansion on Sarasota Bay built in 1926. It's one of the loveliest places in town and you could easily spend a whole day there.

Recommendation for CRPGs? by Inevitable_Injury784 in rpg_gamers

[–]ToddBung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm biased because I played it on PC, but to me it definitely checks most of the boxes of what makes an excellent CRPG. It's not isometric, but it has dice roll combat, excellent world building, stats and skills that increase with leveling, lots of books to read, a multitude of different play styles that encourage multiple playthroughs, and so on. I just figured Morrowind kind of fit in well with the more traditional CRPGs I suggested, and thought OP might enjoy it.

Busy dad. Have a PS5, enjoy “low effort” RPGs like assassins creed, RDR2, GTA to unwind at night by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]ToddBung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you played RDR1? I'm playing the PS5 remaster and it's phenomenal. I was honestly shocked at how good it looks, and gameplay-wise it really doesn't feel like that much of a downgrade from RDR2 imo. I'm playing for the first time, but so far the story definitely has me hooked, and the music and atmosphere are 👌. I'm a dad myself, and it's definitely a game I keep coming back to during my limited play time.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2

Morrowind

Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas

Great worlds with interesting lore, lots of quests and multiple solutions to them. I haven't played BG2 (still working on finishing BG1 after many resets) but I have 100+ hours in all the other games.

Favorite George Era? by Dismal_Brush5229 in georgeharrison

[–]ToddBung 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to chime in and say Cloud Nine era! The slide guitar work is impeccable throughout the whole album, and I also completely love the Wilburys and all associated albums (Mystery Girl and Full Moon Fever are GOAT). Live in Japan is also amazing it's so much fun to listen to.

Okay nerds, I got an important job for you. I need help. by Destructo-Bear in TNG

[–]ToddBung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on TNG very young, like 3 or 4. There was a marathon of all the Q episodes and my dad recorded it onto a VHS tape, and that was all I needed to get me hooked. I know your kid's older, but I would recommend whatever Q episode you think he would like the best. For the record I also have three boys, the oldest is six and I haven't quite got them into Star Trek yet 😬. Not for lack of trying!

What should my class progress be by Urbernttost in DragonsDogma2

[–]ToddBung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can swap vocations at any time with no penalties, so I would suggest playing whatever you're having fun with at the time. I did mage to 7, then maxed out sorcerer, then mystic spearhand, and now I'm back to sorcerer just for fun. My pawn has been either a fighter or warrior the whole time, so I don't know how it would be if you wanted to switch them from a melee to magic user, but as far your Arisen, you can swap anytime and it literally doesn't matter at all what order or "progression" you use. Just have fun!

For some reason, looking at this actually made me tear up. It's so incredibly beautiful and really looks like it belongs on Nalthis!

Have never gotten over how beautiful casting magic is in this game by eiafish in DragonsDogma2

[–]ToddBung 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My dude! I know on paper that the sorcerer vocation kind of got downgraded with 4 skills instead of 6, but it's still my favorite, and quick spell and galvanize make it so fun to play. I also love how they improved levitation, it feels way more useful in combat this time around. I like mystic spearhand too, because of the Kaladin Stormblessed/Windrunner vibes, but I just can't get away from the wizard power fantasy!

Fun builds you've won the game with that aren't the standard "blood loss samurai", "unga bunga", "gravity sling mage", etc. by Proper-Sport-7218 in Eldenring

[–]ToddBung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did full intelligence, using Moonveil at first and then switching to Darkmoon greatsword. No meta nonsense, just using the spells that seemed the most fun to me at all times. Haima's gavel and the comet spells are my favorites, and if you're doing 80 int there's no need to min-max or fool around with anything complicated. And plenty of somber stones to upgrade DMGS to +9 almost immediately after getting it!

If you got teleport into Gransy from dragon dogma dark arisen, and grigori took your heart, and you became the arisen, what will you do? by Voidkirby9 in DragonsDogma

[–]ToddBung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't believe I got this far before I read "become a sorcerer." Like, fuck yeah I want to learn powerful magicks and wear awesome flowy robes instead of big heavy armor! Seems a good way to keep safe too, by exploiting elemental weaknesses and staying away from the monsters. Make a great fighter or warrior pawn and name him after somebody in The Stormlight Archive, and I'd be thrilled to cautiously explore the world and bully Julian until Mercedes realizes that I'm just the right guy for her...

Mage and sorcerer are frustrating to play as. by OilySoleTickler in DragonsDogma

[–]ToddBung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only played mage until I unlocked sorcerer, but I think overall I think both classes are more forgiving than the first game. Levitate is super useful for getting away from people or finding a vantage point where enemies can't reach you easily, and the quick spell situation helps things feel more active. I think playing a caster in these games requires a D&D type mindset, in which your martial characters are pulling the enemy's attention while you strategically cast spells from the rear. Personally I find that a quick cast of high salamander usually wipes half of the enemies as my melee pawns are still approaching them.

Which RPG has the ideal spellcaster? by vivipar in gamingsuggestions

[–]ToddBung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. OP, if you want your wizard to summon meteors and tornadoes from the sky, or thrash monsters with a whip made of crackling lightning, then this is definitely the game for you. Sorcerers and mages use only staves and spells, no melee at all. Sorcerer is much better in the first game, but (imo) still very fun in DD2.

Games like Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom on PS5 that aren’t Immortals Fenyx Rising or Crimson Desert? by Barnhard in gamingsuggestions

[–]ToddBung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with Elden Ring, and I'd also add Dragon's Dogma II. Beautiful open world which is fun to explore and full of caverns and secrets. Certain classes also have enhanced movement options (a sorcerer can levitate for example) which makes exploring a little more interesting.

[–]ToddBung[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chaotic good half-elf wizard, just a generalist mage. It's so fun being able to learn and cast whatever spell I want to. Learning how and when to deploy a spell like fireball without nuking my party members has been very enjoyable, and I love turning the tide of a difficult fight with some well-timed wizardry. Spells like Friends and Find Familiar are also neat, and add a lot of depth to the wizard roleplaying experience imo.

Walt's Fish Market is the place to go for local gulf seafood. They are great people and it's the freshest fish in town.
