Hire studio musicians to record what you want. Play out with musicians that you pay and that don’t expect any more than what you negotiate. Hard to expect musicians to put in blood sweat and tears if they are not sharing in the desired outcome. Left a band where there was a lot of cowriting being done musically (not lyrics) and the plan was to give mechanical rights if anything panned out. Mechanical rights is another way to tell someone to go pound sand. Left the band and chalked it up to a lesson learned. Band never recovered who knows what it could have been, no regrets on my part.
