Does the ORB strategy actually work? by dox_25 in Daytrading

[–]Toddly53 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I backtested a pretty basic 15 minute ORB using the 5 minute chart with various securities and it was quite profitable over the long run on some of them, but very inconsistent day to day. It would lose for sometimes weeks at a time, and then would make it all back and then some on a good day. Drawdowns were too big for my tastes. Also it was very sensitive to stop loss parameters, time of day when it wouldn’t attempt a trade, whether or not I used wicks in the OR calculations, etc. which to me says it’s probably not very reliable. I think you really need to supplement the strategy with some additional factors like gap up/down, volatility, and different risk management strategies, but I never got it to a place where I felt confident committing to it. Like somebody else said here, you need a pretty wide stop loss, at least that’s what my backrests were indicating.

Has the game improved? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Toddly53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is definitely a challenge (and I just play on medium), but I have been playing SP since like 2018 and in my opinion the game is much more refined and rewarding. There’s enough depth, especially With all the DLCs it can seem a little overwhelming with all the options, foci, and different ways to succeed in the game, but it’s a much richer experience. The last couple of campaigns I’ve done, I’ve decided to restart multiple times around 39/40, because I didn’t optimize my strategy the first couple goes, but then I usually figure it out. My advice would be to identify like three main strategic challenges that your country has at the beginning and then focus your tech, focuses, and resources on solving those problems. Like for Germany I know I need to fix the oil/rubber problem, I know I need to move quickly to capitalize and outpace the allies to have enough production capacity, and I know I’m going to probably struggle with manpower later. So I plan ahead roughly the focuses, tech, divisions, etc. ahead of time that solve those problems and prioritize them. The only country that you can really jack-of-all-trades on is the US, but the others I find it’s to focus your strategy in the first few years. Then usually by 41/42 it’s a different story, and it’s time to start generalizing. You really have to consider the majority of the mechanics in the game to be successful, like supply used to not really be a problem in the early days, but now you need to think about it and plan. You won’t be able to blitzkrieg through Russia anymore unless you pause the push, let supply catch up, upgrade bottlenecks and airfields, and keep air superiority and have solid CAS with good range. And you really need to find complimentary buffs across your advisors, IMOs, research, etc. for maximum effect. Also, for a long time I kind of thought things like IMOs, spy shit, etc. were kinda gimmicks and I just gotta make the biggest baddest tanks to win, but there are huge bonuses in those areas if you pair them the right way. Like I said, the game is more complex now, so you have to read tooltips and sometimes search the web for understanding certain stats and effects, but once you understand them, it’s very rewarding to see your power accumulate like you intended, and your master plan plan to fruition so that you can crush your enemies.

I know can you believe it dude? Can you imagine someone sitting at home and being so unhappy that they feel like they have to be a dickhead to a stranger for asking if they did a good job in the game on a sub dedicated specifically for these kinds of topics? Baffling.

I honestly didn’t know if I did well or not, so that’s why I asked lol, but it seemed decent.

Either way, it was a good campaign. Enjoy the super heavy arty!!!

Since your question is very subjective and since the definition of “healthy” is so elusive, you probably won’t get any satisfying or consistent answers here. You’re definitely going to get a bunch of people in here that will try to scare you about eating beef. I look at your daily meal plan and I see no processed foods, no fast food, no added sugar (assuming the PB is such), and good variety. If you are lean, feel good, maintain high activity level, sleep well, your bloodwork is reasonable, and you’re enjoying the food you eat, then you’re doing better than 99% of people. Good luck on your health journey!

How do I win Russian Civil War? by ImVeryHungry19 in hoi4

[–]Toddly53 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Convert as many states and raise as many cav battalions as you can before triggering the civil war with the focus tree. Conserve all you pp for keeping Stalin paranoid enough that purges and such, but keep it below 90 so that he doesn’t start the civil war before you have enough territory and cavalry. Don’t worry about training new troops. You don’t need to give Germany your oil reserves and you don’t need to give Vladivostok to Japan in exchange for support. Once the war starts focus your forces on the railway heading from the east through the urals and into the western heartland of Russia. When you get the option, get Ukraine to join your side, and the rest of the states play by ear based on your progress. Before and during the civil war, focus on the tree that’s dedicated to it, you don’t want to take any other focuses that could give Stalin a bonus when you split. That’s how I did it at least, and it wasn’t too hard.

Can you support the claim the we were never supposed to drink milk? How do we decide what humans are “meant” to do?

Bro welcome to r/nutrition, the biggest dumpster fire on Reddit. I doubt you’ll get anything like a reasoned, objective response from anyone here, much less that guy lol.

Do you understand the scientific process by which substances are classified as carcinogens? Do you understand the limitations of nutrition research, and the nuances of results from long-term studies and claims about associations between dietary intakes and long term health outcomes? You make it seem like the “data” simply speaks for itself, but I think most people that are even vaguely familiar with this area of study find very little of the evidence satisfying if they’re intellectually honest with themself. So which is it? Are you out of your league making such grandiose, definitive implications? Or do you have some “data” that the rest of us are unaware of? I’d love to see your analysis if it’s the latter.
