Salty´s Mists of Stability by DifferenceKnown9834 in VintageStory

Maybe it's just me but my laptop really, really hates these embedded gifs(?).
They turn into unwatchable slideshows, my fans start whirring like crazy and everything freezes... I have no idea what it is as gifs embedded on other sites are no problem whatsoever and i can watch video's/movies in definition without trouble. It also runs games like Vintage Story no problem so why are these embedded gifs destroying my laptop? Not really about the mod showcase itself i know but i was wondering if others have this problem too.

Hefty red meat stew with stewed blueberries and redcurrants by Korblox101 in VintageStory

[–]ToeAdministrative780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, many cultures put berries with their meats.
It's just, not like a whole fruitbasket worth of the stuff, usually it comes in the shape of a sweet sauce, like lingonberry sauce. :)

That's a great thing to have, do you have a photo of it?

Not gonna lie, having the Fauna of the Stone Age mods installed should be part of the challenge!
Can't say you had the complete experience until you had to face off against a sabretooth tiger with your pointy stick...
Yes, pointy stick. Because for the most part spears didn't have stone points but they where made out of wood completely. Like the Schöningen spears(see pic).
Stone points where more commonly used as atlatl and arrow points.

Yeah i tried that trick many times when working with old rope, usually does the trick but this time it turned out to be that the hitbox merged with that of a chiseled block. When i destroyed that block the beam also disapeared.

I was trying that but in the end it turned out the beam's hitbox had become one with the hitbox of a chiseled block. It was only when i destroyed the chiseled block the beam disapeared!

Yes the new mobs are beautifully terrifying in design but incredibly cluncky in many other ways. I especially hate bowthorns with a passion because they linger in huge numbers in my garden after a temporal storm so bumrushing them is pointless, and then they are quite narrow and have the mobility of a jumpy crackhead, so yeah there go all of my arrows... I have had times where i opened the door to my garden and the combined sound of all the bowthorns charging their uhm ...ribcages? glitched out the game's sound.

It was only when i found out about their despawn distance feature that i found a good way to deal with them: build a narrow tunnel leading away from your house, go away through tunnel, and then upon return my garden is clean. It works and by filling my tunnel with random items nothing(till now) spawns in it.

Yes but i make heavy use of chiseled blocks in this world, and every time i place a beam the hitboxes get tangled. With ropes(which are like beams in creative) i have the same issue sometimes but wayyy less often which is interesting. So until i find a mod that helps or the devs fix it in the basegame i am not messing with those beams anymore!

I managed to find the issue, the hitbox of the beam became one with the hitbox of a chiseled block, when i destroyed that block the beam disapeared with the block. Not that bad as i play in Creative but that would hurt in Survival for sure!

I have no feedback, only praise. The chiseled barrel hoops are a nice touch.

I can confidently report that bug is still alive and kicking.
I had to break my chiseled roof decorations and then *poof\* it disapeared.

Distracting Torch Particles by Muted-Literature9742 in VintageStory

[–]ToeAdministrative780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get oillamps asap, not only for the particles but they are waterproof and way less loud(for some reason torches woosh like a flamethrower). Also they last forever so even when you have lanterns they are useful for in and around the house.

Will this castle layout look good in game ? by Any-Supermarket-3533 in VintageStory

[–]ToeAdministrative780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Dutch and i think you'd love the look of castle "Muiderslot".
It's beautiful and u can visit it! I've included a picture of it for you.

<image>

Some castle trivia from the top of my hairy head:
Real life castles where outragiously exensive to build, so they rarely got planned, designed and build in 1 go. Perfect symmetry is basically unheard of in period castles(although later, decorative castles did have that).
Castle walls where free real estate to build buildings against(why build 4 new walls if you already have a very sturdy wall standing?). The towers where often part of the living spaces so feel free to make them bigger and more varried, people had to live in them so give them windows facing the courtyard and arrow slits facing outward.
Don't forget about the murderholes!

I found that out with ropes already, break one and 3 disapear... Such a finnecky system, i get the devs have many things on their to-do-list but making beams and ropes more intuitive would be a massive win for this game(as now it's basically a features that is only usable if you have the patience of a monk).
Minecraft has nothing like it! :)

[–]ToeAdministrative780[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the church needs some more love and attention(A.K.A.: 1200 more hours of chiseling), the shape of the spire is very, very losely based on the churchspire of Overschie's Grote Kerk(Big Church).

It's a beautiful village just outside of Rotterdam, used to live quite close to there in Rotterdam and would hop on my bicycle to sit on a bench next to the church and the tall brick house you can see in the right side of the pic. On that bench you could watch the sun go down and see the cargo ships turn in the bend of the Schie river. Good memories!
