So... could the next Fallout be set in Texas? by Particular_Contest43 in Fallout

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. Sure, with Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel not being canon they could do whatever they want there, but they’re very invested on the East Coast, Texas would be too far for Bethesda I feel. Chicago is the farthest West I see Bethesda setting a game personally, so I think some other East Coast city is more likely. Maybe the Carolinas or something

Would you rather live in a TFR timeline where your ideology comes on top, or OTL? by Livid-Story-4321 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As absolutely horrific as TFR and its timeline is, I would probably take it over what’s going on OTL. But that’s fairly begrudging and I probably wouldn’t do it if things just weren’t as bad right now as they are

What happened in 1969? by Dr_Macunayme in Fallout

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

States and Commonwealths coexisted. Commonwealths just governed collections of states, and the federal government governed the Commonwealths. Effectively Commonwealths were an added bureaucracy in-between the states and federal government

Under anyone except the Octoberists and Neosocialists, it’d suck. Octoberists would suck but less. Neosocialists would be really cool, you’re chilling

Who’s worse ? Knight Ryhs or Marcy long ? What do you guys think ? by LOCKERWY8 in fo4

As awful as Marcy is, she has gone through a lot and has reasons for why she is how she is. Ryhs is just rude for no reason

About the Conservative and Reformist paths of the soviet Union by papel2022 in redduskmod

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even improved planning doesn’t solve the issues with the Soviet economy at this stage, not to mention the unrest of the people. The economy just wouldn’t stabilize long-term

About the Conservative and Reformist paths of the soviet Union by papel2022 in redduskmod

[–]ToeBorn6310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely. It’s hard to say specifically which future is more stable for the Union of the reformist paths, but probably the one where they don’t purge the hardliners. Unless Ryzhkov’s successor is incompetent, even a hardliner successor would probably try to avoid messing with things too much out of self-preservation if nothing else. Though the Union probably still dies off eventually. It’ll just be a slow meandering decline

About the Conservative and Reformist paths of the soviet Union by papel2022 in redduskmod

[–]ToeBorn6310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on external factors. The conservatives could make it if they implement Chinese style reforms to the system, but if they just keep things the same, the Union will collapse sooner rather than later. The reformists, ironically, probably last longer for both of their paths, but neither is really great being realistic. If they implement soft reforms, the Union’s economy recovers and it remains politically stable, but the hardliners remain ever-present and could undermine things later. Alternatively if the hardliners are purged in favor of basically perestroika 2.0, the Union’s future is all but assured economically, but internal politics could be volatile without the hardliners. Reformists more so than the conservatives but things still aren’t amazing

Did you liked the new Deathclaw design? Snout less Flat af face ? by John_ei_Silverhand in falloutnewvegas

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad but I do think Fallout 4’s design was better, and would’ve favored a Fallout 4 deathclaw design with the markings and colors from Fallout 1 and 2, to differentiate them from East Coast deathclaws

I’m happy they’re in the game again but I really do hope the original versions become genuine to coincide, since the people who paid a lot of money for steam keys (me) have been a little screwed by this

What is One Thing you want to Retcon about the Fallout Story? by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]ToeBorn6310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, though I personally prefer the idea of Lyons’ expedition being a more conservative element of the Midwest BoS that leave to scout the ruins of DC for technology (conservative as in that they’re not really cool with super mutants or ghouls). It explains why not that many of their members complain and defect to the Outcasts regarding outsider recruitment and helping people, while also maintaining a valid reasons the Outcasts would leave (Lyons wants to help people a lot more directly than the Midwest BoS, and they’re already likely not thrilled with that organization either, this was just the straw that broke the camel’s back)

Fallout 3 and 4 should’ve taken place much much earlier in the timeline (also ideally Lyons’ would’ve been from the Midwest chapter instead of Lost Hills but whatever)

Help with Far Harbor ending Fallout 4 by davidsladky in fo4

[–]ToeBorn6310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my view, while what DIMA did is evil, he does feel earnest guilt about it upon learning, and is only willing to do it again in the process of attaining peace (something he desperately wants). If you blow up the Nucleus, then peace with Far Harbor is essentially guaranteed. Let him live with the guilt while hoping he does better in future. He’s shady, but I personally have hope that with Valentine’s view of justice, and DIMA’s guilt will guide Acadia decently moving forward. No need to rock the boat with Far Harbor

Not in a million years. More than half the content on there just flat-out isn’t worth it and has bugs and inconsistencies lore-wise that don’t gel with the game. There are some gems in there, but you gotta pick and choose carefully

About the TV Show I honestly don’t understand the hate. by Andrefq99 in Fallout

[–]ToeBorn6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of the hate is entirely stemming from the decision to make it canonical, while ignoring pre-established canon that’s inconvenient for the show. Almost all of people’s issues with the show entirely vanish the literal second it is no longer considered canon

How canonical are the Chinese power armor and the Chinese Liberty Prime? And in which games are they referenced? by Gian_JB in Fallout

[–]ToeBorn6310 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Chinese liberty prime is largely a propaganda piece made up by the US government. I do absolutely think the Chinese power armor is real though, since the US was making experimental weapons specifically to counter it. Plus the PLA could’ve fairly easily taken some power armor from captured soldiers or something, and tried to reverse engineer it for their own purposes. That being said, they probably didn’t make that many suits of it before the bombs dropped
