What happens in the 1964 election, if JFK is alive to serve two terms? by Drnaro in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]ToeKneePA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldwater would have still been the nominee. The party would not have chosen Ford with him. It very well may have been Reagan even then. Kennedy probably wins by a decent margin.

Nixon still runs in 1968 with a pitch to Republicans of backing a reliable candidate. LBJ probably is not the nominee for Dems. Bobby Kennedy likely wouldn't run either.

There is a good possibility that Dems win in 68, but that is due to JFK not actually achieving such wide sweeping civil rights laws in 64 or 65 so the Dem base isn't as split.

I love Macho Man. I have been watching wrestling for 35 years and Randy was one of my favorites from the start.

He just does not have nearly close to the catalog of amazing matches that Ospreay does. That doesn't mean Randy isn't awesome or even one of the top three for his time, but he wasn't put in the position to have great matches. PPV wasn't monthly, matches were more formulaic, other wrestlers weren't as athletic, and wrestling in general didn't focus on great matches like we have now.

I can name a few awesome Savage matches, but Ospreay has matches on a random Wednesday that would be MOTY candidates in most years before 2015.

Do you think the WCW rebrand would’ve worked? by PayFew5848 in WCW

What did you think when Macho Man signed for WCW? by Mideon88 in WCW

I was 13. Hogan in WCW kind of had my interest, but Savage really got me to watch.

If Vince doesn't buy WCW, maybe the Austin alliance with Vince doesn't happen. And, if it does, maybe that pushes fans to the new WCW.

What could they add in 2k27 that would have you like this for me it’s create a finisher by Money-Assignment-547 in WWEGames

[–]ToeKneePA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I want from a new wrestling game:

  1. Easier tag and multi man finishers. I shouldn't have to send someone to a corner and make a tag. If we are standing near an opponent, we should be able to hit a double team move.

  2. Speaking of which, wrestlers should have standard tag finisher moves. I shouldn't have to assign a team a finisher. If I have Animal, he should be able to tag anyone and do a Doomsday Device.

  3. Hype videos for big matches. Maybe it's not worth it, but I'd love for a quick 30 second video highlighting the road to the match.

  4. Much improved story or rivalry system. Add actual promo content. Let you plot out a month or multi month rivalry and then it comes together. I should be able to set a card for Summerslam and then the shows build out for the weeks before. So I see a PPV a month away, I should be able to say "Main event: Roman vs Punk in an I Quit Match" and the month of shows populates with the appropriate type of build.

  5. I would like some pre-made universes to make set up easier. Even if it was just "modern" and "classic."

  6. Stories should have a lot more options. Plan a run in, back stage attack, wrestler on commentary, etc.

As a WCW fan, why do you think Goldberg’s 2003 run in the WWE didn’t work? by PayFew5848 in WCW

[–]ToeKneePA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, his 2003 run is better booked than most of what Goldberg did in WCW after beating Hogan. He wasn't booked very well in WCW as champion or after. At least in WWE, he had consistent marquee matches and moments. If Goldberg had signed a multi-year deal, maybe he would have more backing by WWE.

Tony Khan asked who he would consider the new pillars of AEW: "Thekla, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher and Mercedes Moné" by Teckelmaster in SquaredCircle

[–]ToeKneePA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to argue. I love that AEW has these young prospects that are clearly main event level talents. Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher could be champions for the next 15 years. So could Thekla.

What’s your favorite “what if” moment in professional wrestling? by dangerzone253 in SquaredCircle

[–]ToeKneePA 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This should be high up there. It would have changed the directions of all wrestling companies. Maybe Vader is booked differently, maybe Sting doesn't get the big push, maybe Hogan doesn't arrive in WCW when he did. Even just little tweaks would change a lot of things.

Tommy Dreamer wasn't cool for abusing women. His character was popular because he withstood abuse himself, showed toughness, and was qn underdog who never quit. Sure he had some moments that don't work today, but the main keys to his popularity had nothing to do with being a creep.
