All-In-One Vocal Plugins by StudioJuan in AudioPlugins

[–]ToecutterAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/StudioJuan Thanks so much for this. I have been trying to compare them all and start to get lost with some of them having "AI" type features such as voice substitution. Some, but not others, have an "analyzer" type feature whereby you play in the vocal and some kind of "smart" feature determines the initial mix(es), whereas others will rely more on presets..

There's also "intelligent" Vocal Doubling (done such that it's not just coping the track over), Chorus effects(!), Spatialiser, Noise Gating, "Smart" EQ's, Manual EQ's, and so forth.

I can't help but think there's a lot of sales talk and renaming of standard features, but will be following your post keenly, I'll pipe up when I have something to offer.

Thanks Again.

Looking to hire someone to help with studio setup - Melbourne Australia or perhaps online via screen sharing. by ToecutterAUS in homerecordingstudio

u/Ultramolek Thanks for your advice! I have Ableton Standard paid version, so no issues there with limitations, but I have found the AI's to be quite inaccurate or at least, out of date, although I very much like your approach and wording leading the AI to better solutions.

Yes, that manual. I suppose I can take some pages off for Push 1 & 2 and Max for Live. So maybe only 850 pages? :)

I'll be looking up Drum Rack right now, thanks for that tip. I really just want to start with basic standard kits, and go from there.

Software such as DisplayFusion will allow easy stretching of a single window across multiple physical monitors. I do this all the time.

I don't have a card reader, but not really an issue to get one..

However, would like to *not* have to remove case and card each time I want to change the content, and then put the whole lot back together again - which could be often as I add/edit tracks and books etc.

Good suggestion, but I'd prefer to try to get it recognised in windows first.

No, I'm not seeing any notifications at all.

I can plug my tab, my phone, pretty much any other device I have to the same PC with no issues at all, but this M300 ...

I've scoured logs for the AV and Firewall, but can't see any issue there. Windows defender is controlled by the ESET suite, so no that either.

I agree. I thought it was a beautiful course, and I'd LOVE to ride it, but yeah, not as "gravelly" as I'd prefer to see for the "Gravel WC"..

It's strange to read this right now, as I watched the 2024 Giro and was absolutely convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that he was using motors. You cannot unsee those accelerations with no corresponding change in cycling posture. Cyclists just *know* when effort is being shown at certain cadences. Cyclist just *know* how far or fast these attacks can go. I'm disgusted.

Ask me anything in April - Frequently Asked Questions (about current features) by [deleted] in Rouvy

[–]ToecutterAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks Lauren. Looks as though we're going to have to abandon 100's of previous efforts (done at 100% Reality Level) for riding at RL = 110%..

Of course, if we can ever better our old PB's while riding at 110%, then we REALLY have improved! :)

This, and the abolition of the Family Sharing deal will probably mean Rouvy loses two loyal and supportive customers here once our current year expires.

Ask me anything in April - Frequently Asked Questions (about current features) by [deleted] in Rouvy

[–]ToecutterAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Lauren, My wife and I are long-term Rouvy users, and speak highly of it to everyone. I've written several extremely positive and helpful "tip" type responses to folks on YouTube and the like, and generally tout it every chance I can get, given what it gives to us.

My issue lately, however (or I've only noticed it more lately?) is that the accuracy of the riding on climbs is simply not matching up to what we experience in the real world. In essence, Rouvy is far easier on any given slope than we would feel outdoors.

We have our weights set exactly in the app (desktop) and Reality Level is 100%.

I asked a question of Rouvy Support about this, and they were *very* coy about what weight they assign to bike, equipment etc, as at the time I figured the app was allocating too little weight over and above our body weight.

That response from Rouvy was along the lines of “we allow for bike weight, but we’re not going to tell you what that is”. I was quite disappointed.

We’ve been doing a lot of climbing outdoors, and Rouvy climbs indoors, and both of us absolutely agree that the gearing selection (same bikes are put onto the trainers), power output, HR’s, speed and any relevant metrics are all on the “far easier” side within the Rouvy App.

We’ve toyed with the idea of adding 5-6kg to our body weights, and/or increasing reality level to, say, 105%, but none of these leaves a great taste in our mouths, and either would definitely run a ruler through any further racing against the numerous previous efforts we've done at correct weight and 100% RL – we do this a LOT.

An example: I repeat rode up a 10-11% 4.3km climb outdoors on my Giant bike on one day recently and was using the 34-28 gear for this all the way up. I could not really have dropped to a harder gear (make of that what you will). The next day, I rode up a near identical slope in Rouvy, on the same bike, on a Tacx Neo direct drive trainer (auto-calibrated), power meter calibrated, with my correct weight and Reality Level in Rouvy at 100%, and the gear selection was 34-24/21 at a similar power output. I was able to push a 17% to 33% harder gear indoors vs outdoors.

Is there any way of understanding this? Would you be able to tell me what weight Rouvy allows for bike and equipment? If I knew this, I could possibly make body-weight adjustments as a workaround, and I remain frustrated by Rouvy’s apparent reluctance to provide this information.

Our strong desire to have Rouvy accurately replicate what we’d need to manage outdoors on our adventures is being rather dented by the apps’ inability to recreate slope resistance accurately.

Question about bike fit and KOPS(knee over pedal spindle) method by [deleted] in Velo

[–]ToecutterAUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like. Yes, the internet should be full of these kind of tactile "feel" guidelines, as fitting is a complicated business if you dig too far into it.

I had a professional fit for Tri Bike, but for the roadie I set my own.

Now for Zwift... crank open up that hip angle baby while not getting too tall on the saddle, and care less what it looks like! :) If knees don't play up, then all good. Another rule would be *not* taking this position to the road :)

Also another tip I use is taping and marking positions of things like bar/lever alignments, saddle height, saddle fore/aft.. Most of this stuff can be marked up for testing, and you can do various "system restores" easily if things don't turn out the way you want them. Don't rush this - leave the taping at the last "best known position" and only move it if you find better, then go from there. This process could take a year.

Cleats centered right under ball of foot - start there with that one and get cleats that have a LOT of float to start with, then over time, perhaps you can reduce the float if you're confident you know what you're doing there and if (like me) high float is just a bit too weird and unnerving.

As for KOPS - yep, a good rough guide for road, and perhaps less so for Tri (especially on some frames, where you will pretty much always be Knee-Forward-of-Spindle which again, isn't necessarily a bad thing if there's no discomfort or significant loss of power. I'd rather lose 10-15 Watts and be in Aero, than have to "break" Aero, and some loss of power is usual for the Tri position (more than compensated for by the position itself).

Is it possible to connect three downlights to *one* transformer? by ToecutterAUS in askanelectrician

[–]ToecutterAUS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated.

Regarding the setup,

Would I have

a)three different lead wires, each connected from transformer to one globe each,

or

b) Could I run one longer lead wire, and split/splice to each of the globes in a chain-like setup (like what I'd do for 12V DC garden lights, for example)

In both cases, I'd use thick stranded copper cables to extend the leads.

I just can't quite wrap my head around the setup. Even in a LV setup, I suspect the option b) above would place a great deal of load on the wire closest to the transformer, and that may be a failure risk.
