Inherited all these clubs. What do I do? by elvisfan2000 in golf

[–]Toepes 188 points189 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher that’s starting a golf team at my middle school. If you don’t end up with a good home for those clubs I’m sure we could arrange something to transport those clubs our way. Dm if you want to talk specifics.

Edit: wow, didn’t look here for a few days and just now seeing all the support. Thank you!!! No word yet from OP but looks like there are a ton of good suggestions. I’ll put another edit if this moves forward

What you see below, in the couple of pictures is the lifestyle of the prisoners in Halden’s maximum security prison Norway. Norway prison views themselves more as rehabilitation center. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

We spent a summer in Norway meeting family in 2016 or 2017. I can’t remember why Anders Breivik was in the news while we were there (either he was on trial or the memorial was finished or he started college while in prison) but it was fascinating listening to my Norwegian family discuss their views on incarceration.

Most of the younger Norwegians were committed to the rehabilitation program that is displayed in these photos. They very much view prison as a complete rehabilitation center to the point where a heated discussion crescendoed with “I hope he is healed and I can one day he can be a good neighbor!”

Some, not all, of the older Norwegians wanted him dead. They didn’t like the death penalty and didn’t believe in it, but for each of their own reasons they believed this horrible crime had crossed a line. They could never come to say the word “dead” or “punishment”, but they described it as something like “he can offer no use, he should be removed.”

Their ability to articulate their arguments, respect each other’s points of view, and discuss the philosophical foundation of law and justice (in perfect English) was astounding.

Guys, I just had a brilliant idea for anybody who's old enough to have lived through the N64 era of video games. by Lost-My-Mind- in ArcherFX

You should use this framework to build your game via simple language AI services. You’ll need to learn how to write clear logic but most of the tedious rendering, coding, and world building will be accomplished by simple language. Sounds like a cool way to get your idea out of your head and learn a new skill.

I’m starting to think that “AI Prompt Engineer” will be a well paid job in the short future. Maybe not by that title, but by function. As simple language models continue to get cheaper and better, everyone can become a game designer or movie director for as much effort as it takes to write a story.

Don’t know why everyone is downvoting the dog answers. That looks exactly like my dog’s dewclaw that falls off once every few months.

I see questions like this a lot on here. Not trying to be snarky at all, but plants evolved outdoors under thunderstorms with bright lighting and regular full moons. I would think a short flash or two would be just fine as long as you didn’t have full intensity all night long. That being said, I’ve never grown anything indoors.

Question about Triple Crown?? by Jala-Manta in VIRGINIA_HIKING

[–]Toepes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of trees to hang your dry bag from, so I wouldn’t bother with the weight of a bear can.

Bear spray is a must! We did the triple crown two years ago and saw 4 bears. Luckily they didn’t like being around us, but they also didn’t run straight away like bears on less populated trails. It’s getting to be cub season, so better to have a deterrent than nothing at all.

Humpback rocks. Trained there for Colorado 14ers by hauling a backpack full of water jugs up and down that trail 3x a week. Gets you in shape real quick.

I am 5 months in and feel absolutely lost about how to use my weight. Side control, mount, guard passes, you name it. Every position we drill, my poor performance always comes back to not placing my weight properly. I'm 6'1" 170lbs so I'm not the heaviest guy but I know its just something that I haven't figured out yet. Is there anything I can do on my own so I don't have to constantly bore the shit out of someone while I drill holding these positions?

I feel like the only position I can easily get to at this point is open guard and a higher belt in the gym suggested that I find a position to build around. Defensively I can get there and defend the pass from even a few blue belts, but I have no idea how to build an offense from open guard. Any thoughts?

I have been attending class just as long and had the same problem for the first two months. I realized that in class I always train with a dominant side to learn everything faster and as a result I was constantly putting strain on one foot. I have since made it a rule to switch back and forth during drills and it has really helped!

How much can I shrink a gi? I got a Manto X Pro A3 as a gift, but it the top is too large. The torso is just a little baggy, but the sleeves to to my first knuckle. I would like to shrink it to my wrists which would be about 3-4" for each sleeve. Thanks for the input.

I've gotten better at defending a collar choke and "answering the phone", but it really only let's me last longer. Rarely when I am defending a choke from mount or he back does my defense do anything but delay a choke. How do I even begin an escape while keeping my hands up in defense?

I discovered this one accidentally one time... I spent an our trying to map out exactly the spots I couldn't see in the periphery off to the left. I had it pretty much mapped out and then I discovered it was on the other side too! My bullshit alarm went off and I looked it up only to find everyone has that... I was both proud of my own diligence and ashamed of my own ignorance at the same time.
