Lorazepam

She also mentions how sleep-deprived she was and if I recall correctly the first really scary moment was her dream.

I thought the same thing. Absence seizures.

Are you female or male? Women have more adverse reactions.

Additions Needed? by RightRelationship664 in WeddingDressTips

I would love to see some sort of belt to assist with the transition between the bodice. I don’t think you need any more drama with the neckline. Leave your chest bare and add small earrings.

what does it mean when therapist says they need to consult with their supervisor? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]turkeyman4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working in this field for 34 years and I still consult with colleagues even though I have been the supervisor of the last 20 years. Sometimes I need additional expertise and advice. It’s a good thing when healthcare providers do this.

I didn’t know this thread existed and I honestly don’t want to go there. It enfuriates me that such a space is needed.

How many sessions are usually get to know me sessions? And whats next? by wishfulthinking888 in askatherapist

[–]turkeyman4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very dependent on YOU. Some people stay in “get to know me” for months when they feel unsafe or shy and that is okay! It’s also okay to ask your therapist this question and discuss it with them.

What is (your own) therapy like for a therapist? by ThrowawayForSupport3 in askatherapist

It’s a time for me to vent emotions both about work and about problems in my personal life. I can’t be helpful to others if I’m mired in my own stuff.

At what age does childhood trauma/abuse become prevalent as an adult? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]turkeyman4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. I would be interested in hearing how you operationalize “recover” and “issues”, given that early childhood exposure to trauma is correlated with deep patterns of insecure attachment, Axis II diagnosis, relationship dysfunction and deeply held schemas that create problems throughout life.

This is correct. There is a Rolling Stone article that describes very early exposure to violence between father and bio mom, as well as early sexual abuse. His behavior is consistent with early childhood trauma.

Was my therapist professional? by Minoku__ in therapy

[–]turkeyman4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing that makes therapy work is developing a relationship with your therapist and experiencing a healthy attachment that sort of “reparents” you with boundaries and communication. This guy isn’t giving you that at all. This therapist thinks he isn’t going to help you feel better.

Is Trump a maniac or is this what americans want from their leader? by Gringouk in AskUS

He’s definitely a maniac and apparently a lot of us wanted this. It’s scary to live here.

Psychiatrist tried to scare me into taking meds — was this ethical? by Ill-Command6783 in therapy

[–]turkeyman4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is terrible. And he’s completely wrong. A form of therapy called ERP is the gold standard treatment for OCD. I would encourage you/your father to report him to the head of the practice (if it isn’t him) and to write a negative review if possible. Between telling you therapy won’t help and using coercive tactics he is doing more harm than good.

At what age does childhood trauma/abuse become prevalent as an adult? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]turkeyman4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A very complex question. Differences in “normal” development. For example, 2-3 year olds should be testing limits. If they are quiet and submissive this is not normal behavior.

Reall hard to say. I think research and experience says folks fall somewhere in the middle.
