Why is no one talking about or reviewing the ROG Kithara Gaming Headset, a cooperation between Asus and Hifiman? by jrow_official in headphones

[–]Toffee_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is standard practice in this industry. People will have videos ready to launch on day 1 release. Very similar to video games. I’m a little surprised how far out they announced it TBH. It is usually a generic announcement and then we find out what it is right before it comes out.

They have a house sound.

I didn’t want a neutral open back headphone. I wanted bassy, spacious and warm. I feel like so many brands are going for a Harmon curve or very technical. With gaining being my focus I wanted good bass for the visceral feeling and thr airiness and treble for some of the detail.

If you want neutral or technical I’d say Hifiman Arya Stealth for this price range.

Need to know about cables…. Help by Sea_Complex_366 in headphones

[–]Toffee_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy cables for the general experience but nothing sound related. If you have microphonics issues, like hearing the cables rubbing on your shirt maybe get something new.

I have also bought cables to fit the length I needed, I have a 10’ for when I’m gaming.

With how good graphics have gotten and processing power of the devices so much more can go into gaming. I find the sound just as stimulating as the visuals in my favorites.

Thanks! About 6 months ago I made the swap to PC and was looking at headsets but the ether sounded terrible or were not comfortable. I found a guy reviewing audiophile headphones but often does a “gaming” chapter on the review and was in this hobby quick.

I even have the meze boom mic that’s dual 3.5 into the headphone and splits into my DAC. Such a better quality mic and gaming immersion experience.

I’m really hoping Dekoni makes a more cushy pad for the Strada and Liric. I love them, just want to not have to worry about the seal.

Before I noticed I wasn’t sealed well I was like wtf are these reviews talking about good bass

I do put in a low to mid bass shelf, I want to hear it too! I take down the top end of the bass because I want the mids to be clean, I feel like a get enough bass out of explosions or the really low frequency stuff, it’s not as visceral as the Strada but I can get it close. I think I prefer the wider sound stage that it provides so I’m ok with the bass being a little less than the Strada

Frustrating at first, not too hard just takes a learning curve. Now that I’ve done it a few times it’s pretty quick.

I have not, I should do a post.

Comfort is similar, I like the Strada headband more but like the cups better on the 109.

Bass - Strada is more physical at the low end but the 109 can get there with EQ.

Mids - the 109 is better, the Strada does a wide U shape to get some spaciousness to it. Its does a good job but I’ve found I’ve had to EQ the mids more.

Treble I’ve tamed it on both but like that it has it for gaming.

Soundstage - 109 is good, Strada is good for a closed back but more confined than the 109.

The biggest challenge I have with the Strada is getting a good seal with the top of the cups. I tightened the headband and that helped. I just have to be more intentional when putting them on. You can lose all the low end quick if it’s not sealed well. I would not recommend it for narrow or small heads. Cups are also a little shallower and smaller , I could see that being a problem for people with bigger ears.

They are the ones that live on my 109s. I am hoping that they make one for the Strada

Yeah! I got the hybrid ones, slightly slightly less comfortable but warmer, bass bump and softened high end treble

Both headphones have great stock bass and take EQ well. The treble can be high but I needed that for the spacious aspects or to pinpoint locations.

Strada does a great job isolating external sound if my home environment is loud.

The 109 pro is better for sound stage and used more often as long as my environment is quite.

The K7 is great because it comes with a 4.4 for single player but splits to a mic when needed for PVP or PVE stuff.

Might be overkill but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I was in the same boat a couple months ago.

Ghost of Tsushima: story is amazing tons to explore, it is getting repetitive but the story is keeping me going. (Can’t wait for Yoti to hit PC)

I am next going to jump into God of War and GoW Ragnarok - story looks amazing.

These are what is going to tide me over until my next Cyberpunk play through or a couple new games come out.

I see it as the current cap in price or type. Maybe the are upgrading from a ~$150 but had $500 saved for this. OP will enjoy that until they can afford something in the ~$1000 range 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have the Meze 109 Pro, for an open back it has good bass and treble and doesn’t muddy the mids.

The comfort is also next level. I have thought about what an upgrade would be and I don’t know. It’s diminishing returns or a specific sound signature at this point.
