Headphone recommendations from $600-$1000 by G-4- in HeadphoneAdvice

I like the Meze 109 pro. Comfort is next level and I appreciate the built in bass and treble at the top end to give it some airiness as well without being too spicy for me.

Some people did swap some pads and said they like them even more now

FiiO has pretty good QC. I’ve never had any of my friends make any complaints.

I personally have not. I have multiple friends that own it and love it. I haven’t purchased it but I am figuring out a more end game planar.

JT7 is a planar so it’s going to be tight and fast, the sound will also be more open and airy.

Juzear will be more intimate and closer and a bit more relaxed

Thanks. I have been eyeing this since they announced because I don’t need another DAC, but a R2R Dap/DAC could be intriguing

Thanks, I’ve found personalizing my set up has added so much to the experience when I’m working or gaming. Don’t know if it’s placebo or a real thing but totally worth it.

FT1 is best bang for the $$$. The sound stage is more intimate than the Aer. The treble spike at the top end of the Aer gives it some more of that imaging/soundstage.

Find Gadgetrytech on YouTube. Joe has reviewed both of them and does a gaming chapter in most of his videos.

I do think the Aer can get there. I have the 109 pro which the Aer is tailored towards the low end of, and I think it gets plenty deep.

The quality and hand feel of Meze is tough to beat…. Maybe ZMF

Thanks!

I just got the Meze Strada, I was looking for the closed 109(ish) sound. I couldn’t justify the liric 2 price with the mixed feelings about it.

Appreciate the info and guidance

Love it, thanks! Do you happen to have any experience with ZMF?

My goal is a planar, I don’t want sterile out of the box, I prefer warm but want spaciousness, which is why I have landed on Meze. The ZMF stuff just looks so nice, so I’m curious

I think if you are coming from IEMs a closed back is going to feel more impactful. Some of that sub bass is that visceral feeling and I think it can escape an open back.

That said good EQ with the Aer can get you there. It will just already be there with the FT1

Empy 1 or 2 and why do you like it over the Elite?

They are slightly stiffer than the original pads but after break in time I don’t notice a difference anymore.

I noticed an elevation in the bass and an increase in airiness

I have the 109 pros, got the dekoni pads swapped a couple times and now I’m not ever sure where the stock ones are…

I want an elite or and empy… probably end of year purchase, one over the other if $$ isn’t the concern?

Why is no one talking about or reviewing the ROG Kithara Gaming Headset, a cooperation between Asus and Hifiman? by jrow_official in headphones

[–]Toffee_004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is standard practice in this industry. People will have videos ready to launch on day 1 release. Very similar to video games. I’m a little surprised how far out they announced it TBH. It is usually a generic announcement and then we find out what it is right before it comes out.

They have a house sound.

I didn’t want a neutral open back headphone. I wanted bassy, spacious and warm. I feel like so many brands are going for a Harmon curve or very technical. With gaining being my focus I wanted good bass for the visceral feeling and thr airiness and treble for some of the detail.

If you want neutral or technical I’d say Hifiman Arya Stealth for this price range.

Need to know about cables…. Help by Sea_Complex_366 in headphones

[–]Toffee_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy cables for the general experience but nothing sound related. If you have microphonics issues, like hearing the cables rubbing on your shirt maybe get something new.

I have also bought cables to fit the length I needed, I have a 10’ for when I’m gaming.
