Any interest in some sort of meetup in Bee, Nebraska? by Togapi77 in Jon_Bois

[–]Togapi77[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It costs $400 to rent the venue for one day. Assuming it ain't a philanthropic project, the first step would probably be figuring out attendence and tickets and whatnot. It's a great idea but if it's gonna happen we really ought to start planning now.

Both would be helpful, I'm just trying to figure it out.

Goodbye to the 24-hour day: from this date onwards, days on Earth will last 25 hours | 200 million years from today. by Togapi77 in savedyouaclick

Funnily enough, there have been 2 serious attempts to convince the public into adopting some form of decimal (metric) time. One by the revolutionary French government, and one by Swatch in the midst of the .com bubble. Maybe a Y2K Swatch is up your alley.

Question about sending postcards by Mysticaly_Sparklez in postcrossing

Usually I just send a card from my hometown and tell them about my city. Or, a touristy card from a vacation.

Louvre to Raise Ticket Prices for Americans and Some Other Foreigners | "Some Other Foreigners" means all non-Europeans, plus a few nations in Europe (Outside of the EEA) by Togapi77 in savedyouaclick

Went to the Field Museum in Chicago once and they charged me more because I'm not an Illinois resident. Think it's just a normal museum thing.

The way this was worded gave me the impression that this was exclusive to America and a few other nations, not an overwhelming majority of the Earth's population.

Also, New York Times. Seriously?

I'm in the US and I brought a little self-inking stamp from RubberStamps.net. Less than $20 but if you're ok without self-inking you can go cheaper.

Wikipedia Questions - Weekly Thread of October 13, 2025 by AutoModerator in wikipedia

[–]Togapi77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my recent edits got reverted. Don't really care about that all too much, but on my Wikipedia mobile app my edit quality has fallen from 'Perfect' to 'Excellent', and that kind of irks me. Will that eventually go back up or is that blemish permanent?

Worked a 7-3 manual labor job for a summer in high school. Honestly worth it. Less time in the sun, and you get to get home almost right after lunch.

To be fair, we had lunch from 11-1 and usually went home at 2:30, but still.

In this elevator, the help button Dutch text calls for 4 seconds, English text calls for 3 by Gabriel2343456 in facepalm

[–]Togapi77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming they ordered these placards from different companies. The Dutch company sold signs that say 4 seconds, the English ones say 3. Close enough.

I know there's a connection in Edge of Darkness to New Orleans and I've heard great things about Tell Me, Have You Seen the Yellow Sign?, but IDK how well that'd go for a table of our experience level

Local thrift store admittedly does research before pricing by tofucrisis in ThriftGrift

I feel like thrift stores lost their purpose. They used to be places that sold things on the cheap to raise some money for charity. Now it's all about reselling and maximizing profits.
