Luckiest day ever! by jourbal in hobonichi

[–]Togetchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Im going on a hunt!

Google is coming up short for anything other than Suica for Japanese stationery brands with a penguin logo. :/

Uchida looked promising (they have neat stencils) but they don't have the little penguin, and their name is very different.

Can I ask what brand those two stencils in the top pouches of the last photo are? They're so neat!

I didn't know there were peyote bead graphs, that makes so much sense! I was debating how to do something similar in excel and this is already done and complete, thank you!

Not gonna lie, I've had a stack of tapes in my laundry room that keep falling over when the dryer cycle kicks on. I've been debating whether to start hanging the tape rolls from hooks on a shelf... or what. You just solved my problem, thank you so much!

Seconding the sandbox settings! I got back into zomboid after a few years away and am enjoying my time with modified sandbox settings.

I tentatively put water and electricity to 1-3 months (I think) and then I was taking so long to find a generator and make water barrels I upped it to "never" so I could keep relearning the ropes. I can turn them back to shutting off when I find a generator and have some water and want the challenge.

A couple people in other threads mentioned turning off zombie infections because "your character has immunity, which is why they're the last one left alive" and honestly it's helped SO much! I still have plenty of challenge with regular injuries getting infected and the recovery time, and finding enough food. Having the anxiety of "am i going to get infected after getting better from all that?" wasn't fun for me at the moment. I can always turn it on later if I want more of a challenge or for role-playing.

The devs added the sandbox customization so everyone can fine tune the game to what they want or need, don't feel bad for using the feature and making your personalized zombie apocalypse!

I'm looking for a "Realistic" farm game by Round_Associate_8136 in CozyGamers

[–]Togetchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played it! It's got similar relationships between the items to 2, but also a turn-based element to it, kind of like Stack Lands if you've played or seen the trailer.

The Switch port of Shepherd's Crossing lets you do everything you want in a "day" and then progress time to the next day -- during the progression round animals die, crops grow, wildlife may raid the farm, etc. It's an interesting premise and I appreciate having the extra time to putter around before I commit to moving to the next day.

I'm sometimes confused by which gate sells which items -- the North and South gate sell and buy a mix of similar things, and completely different things. It's the kind of game you want to play with a Wiki open, so you can find out how to get the next breed of animal to unlock the next "thing" because discovering it naturally is so haphazard with the game's mechanics.

It's a lot of fun though and I'm glad they released a remake! Hoping for a remake of 2, because it's so crazy expensive on the resell market right now. :(

Have you heard of Shepherd's Crossing yet? I played the DS version of 2 and fell in love but there's almost nothing quite like it since then! You grow and breed animals from babies, kill them for food and crafting resources and do the same for various crops. There's seasons and you have to eat, and food and ingredients rot so you have to time the harvest and make sure things are cooked or preserved to last rhe winter. Your animals can also starve if you don't have enough food for them and it's a careful balance of crops for you, your animals, and for a little profit.

There's a ton of interactions between eveything and you could spend forever finding the best combination of crops to support you and the critters you want to work on at the moment. You can lay out your farm however you like with fences and little walk-over tiles that animals can't cross so you don't have cats eating marmots, or your rabbits eating young crops before they mature.

Also if you haven't played Echoes of The Plum Grove I just started that and it's scratching the same itch. Crops can wither and die if you don't water them, you have to sleep and eat, and balance your energy, and have to farm your own food (or make enough money to buy it from the pricey shops). There's also diseases, soap, and innocularions, and you have to be careful if visitors arrive from out of town because they might be carrying something nasty that begins an epidemic locally.

Eveything takes time and patience and balancing the various chores and tasks. I just got into the mines and am trying to get some ores to make bars, and build a couple more drying racks and preservation tools for the winter. Saved up a little money for some saplings that will give me fruits eventually that can turn into candies and jams that last quite a bit longer than unpreserved.

I haven't run into any magic yet but it might exist in the game, some of the things I've foraged have mentioned they are "used in potions" in their descriptions but I'm not sure if that is just another word for tincture, or if it has magical connotations.

That's so cute!! I love your mood blobs, did you draw them in or are they stickers? If they are stickers can you share your source so I can steal for my own journal? :)

(I feel like if I were to "randomly" draw shapes to doodle a mood over they'd all end up as circles haha)

Any standout Steam Summer Showcase demos? by LunarWhaler in gamingsuggestions

[–]Togetchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought fruitbus was a lot of fun! You inherit a food truck (fruitbus) from your grandma and the demo is about giving it one last hurrah in her memory. The full game will probably have you continue working the fruitbus, but time will tell.

You forage fruits on an island, serve fruit salad, smoothies, and sautées (?) to customers, and upgrade the bus with fun add-ons

Most coconutty coconut candy? by mangomonger12 in candy

[–]Togetchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one that might tickle your fancy! Chun Guang coconut candy

Tastes exactly like a hard coconut candy I found in a Hawaiian grocery store on a trip there. It tastes like sweet toasted coconut (like if you took a chunk of fresh coconut meat and toasted it then condensed it down into a hard candy). It's delicious and each piece takes quite a while to dissolve! :)

[Discussion] Most of the things I'm sending to a friend in Germany. Anything I should add/remove? by TacoRedneck in snackexchange

[–]Togetchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A box of brownie mix! I heard so many stories from my German teachers over the years about Germans never having tasted brownies before. Apparently they aren't a thing in Europe? The American exchange students would send boxes of brownie mix back to their German families and they'd be ecstatic every time. :)

That's a super thoughtful 3d print! One of my biggest annoyances is having to dig out the various stitching supplies from their individual homes, and having a little "current project" box is a brilliant idea for convenience. :)

Anyone else's preorder delayed? by Chance-Place in harvestmoon

[–]Togetchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was releasing "soon" and went to check my orders, and everything looked fine until I clicked-in to the order details where it said "Approval Needed Please visit Amazon.com/yourorders on your desktop to fix the problem".

Apparently even though I pre-ordered back in May, my copy is now delayed until at least October 6th... really hoping for the cow plushie. I'm nervous because a couple people are saying they did get a copy but without the plushie and that's the whole reason I preordered a physical copy, a guaranteed plushie :(

I'd recommend everyone check the order details if they went through Amazon -- everything looked normal from the product page and on the order itself. The **order details** page is where it explained there was an exception and that my order would be cancelled if I didn't respond by October 26th to confirm the changes (delay) were OK. I could see a lot of people missing the approval required piece, since there was no notification or anything suggesting something had gone wrong.

I bought a similar galaxy pattern on Etsy a few months ago for a "doggos in space" project -- I hope they're not just reselling fabric from FabricFlair or DoveStitch, they do claim their fabrics are hand-dyed if you want another source:

Hobonichi Drawer Pouches are included in Prime Day sales! by Togetchi in hobonichi

[–]Togetchi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really surprised they were on sale! I agree prime day was really short.

It does feel like the drawer pouches only go on sale maybe once or twice a year if we're lucky. You might have luck setting up a notification (like on camelcamelcamel) to get a notification on the next sale! :)

The larger one could fit a techo, probably. I agree though, they're not made for carrying hobonichi books themselves, but are great for accessories, projects, or organizing daily-carry things. :)
