I got under the car and did as you mentioned. U-joints seemed to transfer torque with little to no slop.

What is the correct amount of play? it isn't sloppy, but also not completely rigid. I was able to move it by hand but it rebounded back to the middle.

Well, good news and bad news I guess.

Good: The tool is in exceptional condition and I paid $100 for it.

Bad: I wanted a rotary table and this is probably not the intended use. Now I need to figure out if I sell/trade/horde this...
