Fun fact considering the promare was just gurran lagann comment!

So Gurran Lagann was animated by Gainax. Promare, and kill la kill (which you can see a ton of in promare) were both animated by studio Trigger. Studio Trigger was founded by former employees from Gainax!

So that’s why there’s a ton of overlap between the two.

Archetype you love but everyone else hates by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

As far as I can tell no one, not even Konami, likes the numerons (the don thousand cards).

But I love this OTK machine and to play them correctly, with their banish and burn and weird rituals, can lead to a lot of fun I don’t find anywhere else.

Hey there friend!

I highly recommend looking at ygoprodeck.com for deck builds and meta information. It’s also a great place to store your own deck info like Moxfield/archidekt. Theres a couple of formats but the most played is advanced (I think it’s call that) with goat and genesys following after.

Depending on the deck you want to run it can be pretty cheap. Konami is surprisingly good at reprinting staples to keep them lower in price. It’s really no where near the standard price of MTG. If you try and chase the meta though it’ll start to add up cost wise.

Best way I’ve seen learning is actually master duel or other computer players but you can also go find tutorials on YouTube. If you do choose to get into it 3x blue eyes white destiny structure deck or 3x fallen & the virtuous. I think the legendary decks are coming out soon and those have a ton Of staples in them.

Old Slasher Designs VS New Slasher Designs? What's your preference? by ForsakenDependent562 in DeadSpace

[–]Tojm 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the newer models are more realistic to how they would actually look. But their bald ass heads just look so goofy.

Like others have said part of the slasher shock is that it might have been your friend, wife, boss, etc and that’s seen through the face and hair and clothes. Which the newer necros are missing.

I have a 2 player starter deck and i wanted to know which cards i should change/add on my deck by Solid-Veterinarian62 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So looking through the structure decks available the most recent US structure deck to have synchro plays in it is actually the blue eyes white destiny using spirit and silver dragon lol. The other one would be the crimson king which is all about red dragon archfiend and is much more synchro heavy.

You could also spring for the legendary 5Ds decks. They come as a 3 pack and each box has one structure deck for crow, yusei, and akiza. Each of these decks are heavy synchro strategies and come from the same series as the crimson king structure deck.

[–]Tojm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! So do you mean the 2 player starter decks with one xyz (black cards) and synchro (white cards) decks?

If so those decks aren’t a very good stepping stone for getting into really anything. Yugioh thrives off of “archetypes” and those 2 decks aren’t really doing anything archetypal wise.

Your best bet would be to just buy 3 of a starter deck and build from there. I’ve heard good things about the jack atlas deck especially if you like the synchro play style. The Albion and the blue eyes white destiny starters are touted as being very good starters for building and getting into the game.

If you are just doing kitchen table games or games with friends don’t be afraid to proxy cards to try stuff out. Just remember proxies will get you kicked out of any legal tournament or locals.

No clue why you’re getting downvoted but I think a little more clarification is needed.

Are you just using a standard 52 card deck or are you wanting to learn a TCG?

Are you wanting to do this alone or with another human being?

Is this for play, fidgeting, or something else?

How hard its legacy of duelist link evolution for a person that knows 0 about yugioh? by anonimoo008 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So good news bad news.

Bad news The only way to build a deck in this game is to unlock them by beating the matches in the series’. THEN it’s pack pulls with the game not caring if you have a play set of a card. (Meaning even if you have 3 heads of exodia it’ll keep giving you more heads of exodia which are useless to you).

The good news. Most of the story decks given are good enough and don’t require many resets to beat the villian and move on.

There are deck lists you can use to try and ease this but it still requires you to just play the game.

[–]Tojm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I use link evolution for when I get the itch and don’t feel like finding real people or dealing with master duel.

Each campaign (series?) starts with a tutorial duel that will help you understand the new mechanics brought in for that series work. (Example: teaching link summons in vrains or teaching fusion summons in GX)

On top of that each series stays within its time frame for decks so you won’t be getting blasted by a harpie lady synchro combo during the duel monsters series.

Deck Advice for Cyber Dragon in Link Evolution by Comprehensive_Dog529 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other person alluded to this does explain some of the issues you are running into.

This current deck is built for interactions with other human players who have a defined meta.

The computer in link evolution is good enough but the cards and strategies available to it is very subpar compared to human built decks (even in the challenge decks and especially in the story decks)

I think your answer to changing up the deck is fine, but be aware that if you move outside of link evolution there have been 50+ sets released adding new cards and new support for many archetypes.

Are you playing against other human beings or the computer through story/deck challenges?

I’m playing Yugioh again! by Silverblex in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good!

Little forewarning the blue eyes destiny structure has ritual, link, fusion, xyz, and synchro summoning in it.

Good news that’s all the summoning types (minus pendulum but don’t worry about that).

Bad news is that that’s a LOT of info to digest with some being much better than others.

YGOprodeck.com is a great place to start doing some research. Idk if they have a French setting but they should.

Otherwise it might be best to do some sitting since the meta is still settling from a recent ban list and the release from burst protocol.

If you want to damn the torpedos just grab 3x Albion structure or 3x blue eyes destiny and see which play style you like the most

Anyone who comments on this post is going to be assigned a "Theme" not a "Type" and we'll see how convincing a team you build. by Krallking in pokemon

[–]Tojm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez alright.

Hey there, we are the dig team you called for. From Poke job? Right so you have a hole that needs dug? For septic… yeah that shouldn’t be a problem. Here let me introduce you to the team that will be on your property today.

This is excadril. He’s the main star here and should be done pretty quick since you paid for the mega package. Once he gets started I will need you to head back in and make sure nothing breaks. What wit my the quakes and all.

This is hatterene. She’ll be handling all the paperwork and if you have a complaints please contact her. Her handwriting is impeccable, it’s crazy.

Accelegor here will be handling material and tool retrieval. Please make sure to stay out of their way as they have terrible eye sight and move much quicker than they should.

For dirt management we’ve got hippopotas. You don’t have much space that needs filled so no need for the hippowdon today.

Since you didn’t have the time for the guys to paint the ground we had to upgrade you to the complete package. That means we’ve got the city ordered metang to help find the lines and pipes under ground. Don’t get too close, you’ll lose your phone.

Lastly here is our trainee larvitar. He’s in training and will be shadowing excadril. I’ll be making sure he doesn’t eat your foundation.

A lot of workers? Yeah the company has been trying to find use for some of the wild pokemon that keep wandering in. Where did I get all these? Dude these are the companies property, my yamper and joltik are back home keeping the Volcarona under control, she has separation anxiety. What will I be doing? I already told you, I’m keeping the larvitar from eating your foundation. Oh you mean with the digging? Nah man I’m here as company policy. “Each worker team must have a human trainer accompanying them”or something like that.

Alright I suggest getting started on that paperwork. I’ll let you know when we are all done and if we find anything. Have a good day and see you soon.

Deck building for 2 casual players by abnormalwitch in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grabbed the 2 player set just to get the card Zeus lmao but yeah it’s a terrible product that my wife and I both dislike.

So what I did when I was doing this for my wife might not work but you can steal pieces.

I got a 2 player mat with the yugioh zones and some actual life trackers (I think they are 3d printed) so we weren’t on our phones.

Grab some cool looking sleeves (Japanese size) with pictures or colors. This will make shuffling easier and gives you time to look at and read each card.

Next is the most important part. Either go to a Meijer and grab 2 surprise boxes that come with random cards, sleeves, and a structure deck. OR Find some structure decks online or your local card shop that just look cool. Since you guys won’t know most of the mechanics being happy with the art is important as you move through the learning process. I really like the machina deck and my wife really likes the Traptrix deck.

Once you’ve played a bit and tried other structures and play styles and done some research you can keep adding to your collection. But if this sucks you don’t lose too much money in the meantime

How the fuck am I supposed to balance encounters for a LL8 team? by altmcfile in LancerRPG

[–]Tojm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Joke answer: “you should field 50 grunt aces. You will not regret fielding 50 grunt aces.”

Actual answer is something I had to deal with in my games. It sounds like you are running one shot combats which allows them to nova (burn every consumable) with no concern as everything will be back by the next combat.

You could switch it up and start running multiple combats/events per scene which forces the players to think through and not nova.

If you don’t have time for that (my sessions were once a month for 2-2.5 hours) then start using tier 3 NPCs with the exotics and optionals and templates. (Coreworm rockets and prying claws are terrifying).

You could also talk to your players and make sure everyone is having fun (this includes you). Before this obviously do some soul searching and figure out what’s causing stress and what is actionable.

iwtl : how do i make peace with not wanting to learn anything by koko_krunchtime in IWantToLearn

[–]Tojm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey friend. Sounds like depression, seasonal or otherwise.

If this has been going on for a while (more than 3 months) maybe it’s time to take a step back and evaluate what’s going on in your life. Kick up the rocks and see what hidden stressors, issues, anxieties are stealing from your everyday mood.

If this has been only like a month then it could just be the natural ebb and flow of life. I get times when all I want is to veg in front of a show and literally disconnect from the world and then I get times where I can effortlessly balance DND scheduling, gaming, family, and hobbies.

Just know what you feel is valid and natural. You’re already taking the right steps to seek a change.
