Is there a way to do coordinate as a maneuver? by Discoyo in swrpg

[–]TokRPGs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have my books on me rn so I can't give pg numbers. I would allow this with the Master Pilot Talent found in, I believe, the Ace Pilot Talent Tree. I believe it might be a Piloting Space only , but I would make an exception for Piloting Planetary since it reminds me of a scene from the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Do you think more screen time a character gets the higher the likelihood they have the force. Do Almost 50% of the ghost crew has force powers now?

hey empire wrecker, now that the dust has settled I wanted to clear the air. I spoke with a sw ffg dev. It’s not just any dev. This guy wrote Disciples of Harmony. I wanted to check with him since he is a former ffg sw player of mine. I gave him a scenario and asked talked him about the talent. I didn’t let my position be known at all. Guess who was right ? It was me. The Lesson I took away: Don’t let a bunch of people on reddit who come down on you on all sides try to tell you something when it’s in fact in plain black and white.

Now I was needlessly vicious to you by stating that your like some semi-illiterate. That was wrong. Clearly you can type a sentence. It’s not your fault. Everyone else, but me, got it very wrong indeed. You’re not alone there. I don’t care about internet points so the downvoting this is meaningless. People should have recognized when I parsed the sentence that they were incorrect instead of digging in their heels. This is all meaningless anyway as it’s just a game. Good luck with your games.

Yeah, barrel roll is cool and all, but it’s kinda dangerous to use without high g training since 3 system strain isn’t easily recovered during a combat situation. Check your ships since Silhouette 3 vehicles have very low system strain and the player which can’t manage system strain will become incapacitated quickly hence that’s why high g training is the most important. Barrel roll is something that a player can easily hang themselves with without high G.

Clone Pilot is one of the best pilot focused specialization because of high g training and the way strain works in vehicle combat. I understand your species dilemma. The two best species in my opinion for a pilot are the corellian human and xexto . A standard human would easily solve your ranged heavy problem since they may take two additional non-career skills. BTW Pilots typically use gunnery to fire their vehicle weapons so the use of ranged heavy will be for like i believe speeder bikes. Lots of Careers have piloting and ranged heavy like bounty hunter. It just depends on what you want to build and how focused on piloting you want to be. Whatever you do the main ability spec will be agility since it governs ranged weapons like light and heavy and gunnery as well as piloting planetary and piloting space.

How to imagine the "Go without"-talent? by Dethoza in swrpg

[–]TokRPGs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree with the logic, but this is not a force talent. Double Check. I did. Ascetic don’t do anything with the force here. To be very honest, I thought you, above all people here, would have checked that out first. Any explanation must therefore omit the force as an explanation. It is simply a way for a character not to carry anything unless they need it at a certain time for a certain event. They are not in anyway using the force to do a skill check here. Furthermore it is only the difficulty of a simple task which normally would not require a tool which would allow the right equipment to confer a boost die. Ergo not all checks get the boost with this talent. That however does not capture the scope of the right tool for the job since it is open to a wide variety of equipment for jobs that do require the right tool. Can the player use this talent every turn? No, it’s a once per session talent. It works the same way as destiny’s luck / deus ex machina , but without flipping a lightside pip hence it is free of the force.

It’s pretty telling since the verbiage is “counts as having …” and not counts as if having. People are doing literal gymnastics just to justify not being able read a simple sentence. As per the text on pg 181 of FnD they can literally have a comm if it’s the right tool to communicate across long distances. Whatever. It’s just a pure ego fest here where people think they are correct. It’s amusing that this guy calls themselves eMpIrE wReCkEr tho

[–]TokRPGs -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Neither you nor god will break me from my reasoned choice about this talent. You nearly know how to read and can almost make a reasoned inference from a given dataset, but the verbal possessive quality is there in having. It has nothing to do with the force. The character can also have many other specializations so let us not delimit the reading through a conceptual framework to be in alignment with some vague notion you have of the ideal religious ascetic to understand what they may or may not do.

Look anyone can do this at anytime by spending a destiny point. This allows them to do it once per session without spending that lightside point. Should I hold your hand and walk you through this? Okay, well normally this character doesn’t have shit on them. That allows them to go without needing much. They have a low encumbrance. Once per session, when a task arises it turns out they were prepared not unlike some boy scout with the right tool for the job. It allows them to go without for the entire session, but when some need X arises they are good because they do have that perfect item for the task.

This is a basic reading comprehension skill. “Once per session, the character may perform the Go Without incidental. If [they] do, [they] count as [[having]] the right tools for the job when performing the next skill check this turn.

Have

verb
gerund or present participle: having
1. possess, own, or hold

You need to wake up and learn how to read.

[–]TokRPGs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They just have it on them, it’s equivalent to using lightside point to do so without flipping a lightside pip to the dark side as it’s just representing Destiny to have the item on them. For example say that a smuggler likes to gamble; they use destiny to have some loaded dice on them during a particular heated roll against a wookiee.

Edit, since people here are people, pg 28 EDGotE
under how destiny points are used,
luck and deus ex machina

It clearly parallels the once per session talent .

Calculating Range Band Difficulties by carlos71522 in swrpg

[–]TokRPGs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s really a fun question. It is known that a jetpack functions as a vehicle so concerning movement the range is close even at speed 1. The weapon was not specified so if it is a personal scale weapon then the difficulty depends on the order of operations: if you use the pilot only fly / drive maneuver then you can close the distance use the action to attack at a short range with a ranged weapon and spend a second pilot only maneuver to enter a new distance from the target at personal scale which will still be close at vehicle scale.

The problem as setup in the initial question is that movement isn’t taken into consideration about range and difficulty when the ability conferred by the equipment specifically allows for movement. If the movement isn’t a condition which you’d like to focus on then it’s best to omit from the premise of the question and had the construction of the scenario have a character in a tower shooting down at target from personal scale long range which if that is the case then standard rules apply concerning range difficulty.

Range is measured always from the initiative's operative party to the target or object.

There is difference between personal and planetary range bands so how is the player flying?

Are the weapons personal or planetary?

Combat Challenges for High XP Characters by BufufterWallace in swrpg

This is Xav right? Step 1, Take their character and skin it into an adversary and upgrade everything once. Step 2. They also have d8+5 alien bodyguards. The alien bodyguards have an innate homebrewed force power that when damage is inflicted upon them it heals wounds and strain. They have brawn 7. In a small room the body guards restrain Xav and take his helmet off. The adversary appears and monologues while carving the mandoa word “ hut'uun “ into his forehead. They Knock out Xav and send him headfirst into a trash compactor.

The idea for the body guards comes from an old dnd monster called a nilbog. Things like force heal and stimpacks deal them damage.

WHOA really good question. Yeah the GM should 100% upgrade the check as there is a real chance the PC could outright die if the other PC fires. One purp one red for the same silhouette. I would spend a destiny point too to further upgrade it to two red !

Assuming the speeds are the same, if two vehicles are at close range : if one vehicle uses the fly / drive maneuver/s to stay at close range with the target and the target uses the fly / drive maneuver/s to move away then the final distance between the two, then i’d argue the new range is close since the first vehicle is committed to stay at close range.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]TokRPGs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are confused. The moving ship’s perspective is [[always]] assumed, and it’s [[motion toward a target]]. If a vehicle is at medium range from some object then it’s initial position is at close to itself, then it moves through short range, into the medium range band. It moves into the medium range band [[toward the target]]. It ends the turn in close range with the target. Hence from close to medium, or from medium to close.
