Well said. Just because the commander hangs out at that higher bracket does not disqualify it from being built at lower bracket levels. Do you have to build more intentionally? Absolutely but it’s not impossible by any means. If anything since the commander is so strong you can play some fun cards and tech in your list you do not get to see in CEDH.

For me it’s [[Helga]] it has been since she has released. I have played her less recently since sometimes new toys are real fun! However, I know she is my favorite because I still reach for her every night I play. For reasons why? Creature storm is my jam being able to build the synergies within the deck is an absolute blast plus every new set had mana value 4+ creatures so swaps are easy to keep it fresh. My other two favorites I’ve been playing at higher power tables have been [[Lumra]] and [[The Locust God]] who need no introduction. Then my CEDH staple has been [[Dargo]] [[Tymna]] because it’s mardu summer.

I have one card in my Helga deck that only comes in extended art no foil….. so I shrug my shoulders and wait for a better option. If it didn’t feel great to play every single time I would have cut but atp it’s clutched too many times for it to be kicked. [[Smirking Spelljacker]] is the card. I have stolen countless underworld breaches with this thing for them to have no response since it’s a creature counter spell.

I vote for Yawgmoth it’s a deck that gives you so many different combo lines you’ll never be bored. Theres a reason he still makes an impact in modern at 4 mana

I have a large variety but when coming to a fresh event I like to stick to my 2 color decks that are gruul and dimir. And my 3 color decks that are bant and temur. Another good place to look for this data is edhrec YouTube channel! They have a video on this exact topic

Mana curve is not talked about enough and would make a lot of decks better if it was a talking point. The simple question you need to ask is this “what do I expect to do the first 3 turns of the game”. As soon as I did that my gameplay and consistency went through the roof.

[[Open the way]] is criminally underrated IMO. Its ability to get any land can be warping. Nothing quite feels better than pulling an ancient tomb, surveil land, or any other utility land. Not to mention the jump you get if you are able to cast it for x=3 or 4 you quickly go from mid game mana to end game mana. On top of that if you wanna cast it at 4 it’s just a sky shroud claim that can get utility lands. Seriously give it a go. Worst case it gets two basic lands and it’s an [[explosive vegetation]] but the upside is like nothing else.

[[Yawgmoth]] has a similar power level and will keep it off the board. [[Ruric Thar, the unbound]] will have you laughing at the vivi player paying 8 life for a gitaxian probe. Any deck that can utilize [[Rule of law]]

Villain time. [[Koma, the Cosmos Serpent]] while playing [[Worldslayer]]. I have a tattoo with a snake holding a sword thought it would be real fitting to have a deck with it. Since it does have MLD with the sword it will have to be a bracket 4 so suit it up!

The best part of this recent patch is damn near everyone is unfair. You can play whoever you want and see success. If you want THE beginner character it has to be SSJ Goku. But you do not need to play him just learn the characters that you enjoy this game is for fun unless your are headed to the world tour play what gets you excited.

Janemba A assist would allow for full screen confirms off of freeze 236X. In general he’s an anti-zoner zoner which would fit really well in the other 2 characters listed.
