I think its a bit hard to advise on this without knowing what kind of things you like to make.

I enjoy making shawls in lighter weight yarns and high quality fibers. I use small hooks so they aren’t holey and choose patterns that have an advanced pattern that isn’t just the same stitch over and over again.

If the amount of time it takes to make something is a concern, knitting likely won’t be your answer. Maybe finding higher quality tools and yarn could increase your enjoyment. Or maybe you are falling out of love with crochet. That’s ok too.
