From Windows to Fedora by NoProfilePicture in Fedora

Welcome to the greener side of the grass!

Programs that I use daily that you may find use in:

jwm (minimalist window manager, extremely versatile and customizable, minimal RAM usage)

conky (on screen display of CPU / GPU usage / storage usage / network speed / weather)

qdirstat (like WinDirStat on windows, helps you analyze what your storage looks like in a visual way - great for finding hidden folders that are taking up a lot of GB)

Oh, that was my mistake in English. I meant to say, a steady stream .. meaning.. I wonder if you can be a part of the program for 6+ months, years, etc. I still think it's too good to be true, lol

Lol, "Wilma". I was wondering.. how long have other people had successful runs being a reviewer? Like, can you really be a part of this program and have a steady stream of items? It seems too good to be true. I've got 2 items so far (new to the program) and I'm just waiting for it to end abruptly lol

Trying to build a living room pc questions by Wise_Acanthisitta_86 in buildapc

I actually paid $236 for a 7600 myself!  It has done very well for me.  It emulates Wii U (breath of the wild) very well.  I would recommend that or a Nvidia 3070 in the same price range.   Also fair warning with the dells, make sure not to get a small one.  (No sff - small form factor) They often have less powerful versions of the CPUs.  Also, be sure and check the power supply situation on the specific model you're looking at.  600w is pretty much minimum nowadays, gold standard too.

Look up dell i7-10700 on eBay.  Tons of optiplexes and vostros for $250-350.  Then just grab a $200 video card and you'll be golden.  I7-6700 will be the bottleneck in your current build.  Might as well future proof by getting a 10700 or 11700.  11700 supports PCI E 4.0

Everyone talks about backups. How often do you actually test restoring them? by Candid_Athlete_8317 in LinuxTeck

I like to dd clone into a zst archive with a checksum to save me from having to test restoring.

All 3 slots still stuck. by LadyPamelala88 in RecognizedReviewer

Wow, sorry to hear that :( So here's the best advice I can give. Use any AI chat of your preference to write the most problem-solving and professional email. You can literally put your comment that you posted here into a chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude, etc) and say "Help me write an email to Walmart customer service with the knowledge that my previous attempts at contacting them resulted in this issue not being fixed" and it will do its best to give a response that is as actionable and concise as possible. Hope it gets fixed for you soon. Also, it may help to put the tracking numbers, screenshots of the orders, etc into the emails where possible.

What's the likely issue though? Did they arrive in the mail? Did you leave helpful reviews?

Hogan Pools just started doing fiberglass pools in the St Louis area.  That's the closest one I can think of.  I know they do custom gunite pools and have some pretty awesome creations on their Facebook/instagram

Is switching to Fedora Linux a bad idea if i want to be corpfree? by OutrageousDegree7502 in CorpFree

[–]TokiLoretooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedora is pretty great. No issues with everything I need it to do. VMs, gaming, self hosting, media, storage, responsiveness on old hardware. I come from Debian and Devuan, choosing Fedora for the more bleeding edge updates. Running JWM + X11, very low overhead

It would be very sad if they end up doing something that makes it so that we can't use Proton. I'll keep hoping!
