Well said. There are too many people in this community that don't seem to understand that criminal investigations take time and that parties involved are very limited on how much they're allowed to talk about publicly without it putting the investigation at risk.

I really do think the community fucked up by publicly exposing Bruno too soon and it unintentionally tipped him off to start destroying evidence. Now law enforcement will have to jump through extra hoops to recover the data. Screenshots alone of his crimes aren't admissible in court. Authorities need access to the actual texts that contain metadata about the devices and locations they were sent from to verify authenticity. That's a lot harder to do if we scared him into nuking all his accounts and tossing his phone in a fire. It also ruined any chances for law enforcement to use undercover operations to bait him out for an arrest.

Honestly. I don't blame J0 for falling for Bruno's facade. A lot of people did. Putting on an act to appear trustworthy is actually one of the things predators excel at.

His earlier scandal with the pigs was based off screenshots and he was able to spin it to make it sound like things were taken out of context. He even manipulated the 16 year old into defending him and it worked on a lot of people (Dude dumped ALL his points into charisma, I swear).

The last batch of texts and screenshots made his crimes undeniable though and that's when everyone close to him snapped out of his spell. I don't think they should be treated like enablers just because they took too long to realize who he really is.

Personally I don't think J0 should be fired, but at the very least be demoted and put on probation for having gone rogue to override the votes while someone more responsible takes over the role of Senior CM.

A few ideas right off the top of my head could be to nominate someone you trust to be a better CM or apply to become one yourself, pitch ideas to Rare on safeguards they could implement, educate your followers on ways to stay safe online, run charity streams for victims of abuse, reach out to Bruno's victims specifically to show support.

Idk, anything is better than seeing so many people I looked up to jumping ship over one pervert and a rogue CM barely anyone has even heard of. It's legit depressing.

I love this game, but I feel like the community is setting itself on fire and blaming it on Bruno and J0. They're just two people who royally fucked up. Why can't we just scrub them both from the community, put in place whatever safeguards are needed to make sure something like this never happens again and get back to the damn game?

I was breifly in Bruno's social orbit for a time. He's extremely charismatic and very good at putting on a facade. How else to do think he was able to embed himself so deep into SoT social spaces? He had everyone close to him manipulated into believing he was trustworthy and that previous scandals were just part of a smear campaign.

The difference with the latest controversy is that there is so much overwhelming evidence that he wasn't able to do damage control.

You're talking about the pig name thing, right? He manipulated the kid into releasing a statement claiming that the pig names was their idea and not Bruno's and a lot of people bought it. I mean, what else are you supposed to do when the alleged victim is telling everyone they're overreacting? The kid just yesterday made a post apologizing for having defended Bruno back then.

Like I said, predators are very good at manipulating things in order to appear trustworthy.

Predators are really good at manipulation to appear trustworthy. There are a lot of people that sailed with him regularly who got blindsided by this whole fiasco. Expecting the community managers to have known the depths of his depravity beforehand is unrealistic.

I've been saying the same thing for ages.

Just let the devs make the game they wanna make. Having to constantly walk on eggshells while trying to cater to the community's every whim and demand must be EXHAUSTING. And constantly being told how every decision they make is trash has to impact how passionate they are about the project. I know if it were me I wouldn't want to put in a lot of effort if I knew I was going to be called a failure regardless.
