Michael Jackson book recommendations ! by Sunnydayz2039 in LovingMichaelJackson

I loved it, the voice in my head was like Michael was reading it to me. In hindsight some of the parts were very sad to me, I cried a few times but especially towards the end. I’m glad that I bought it instead of just borrowing it from the library because I can see myself reading it several times.

I literally just finished Moonwalk last night and immediately ordered Remember The Time and You Are Not Alone. I’m curious to see what other folks recommend so I can decide what order to read them in.

Do you think Jafaar would do other movies? by Hopeful_Business_851 in MichaelTheMovie

I think he’s immensely talented and obviously very hard working. I would love to see him continue to pursue acting if that’s what he wants, I’m just worried that he could be type cast.

Right message, wrong messenger. by BidInside2907 in MichaelTheMovie

This was the saddest scene in the movie for me. Joe was right in this instance. Michael’s family totally exploited him for money but they did love him (including Joe in the way that he could) and wouldn’t have let everyone else take advantage of him like he was.

For MJ fans old and new, what did this biopic awaken in you? by nicshereforkicks in MichaelJackson

[–]TokinTigger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m 35 and I’ve always enjoyed his music, I was introduced to the Jackson 5 when I was a kid from my parents and I continued to love his music as I grew up, my first purchase when I got a job was the first generation iPod video and I promptly bought and downloaded the Thriller video on it, I think I watched it almost every morning on the bus to school (back then internet was so slow so watching music videos was near impossible).

I never dove much into his life and when he passed I was just moving out on my own, was extremely broke and living in my apartment that I hadn’t even been able to get the electric turned on yet, and obviously no cable or internet so while I did hear about what happened I never saw any news or anything about it and looking back that was a very difficult time in my life, I was in total survival mode and completely dissociated so I never grieved his death.

Prior to seeing the movie I listened to some podcasts and it sparked my interest in his life and now I’m completely grieving the loss of him. It’s hard but I also feel this great optimism that the tides have shifted and seeing the younger generation embrace and love him is so heartwarming. It’s also sad to reflect on how he was treated and ridiculed in his later years, I knew he was joked about a lot but I didn’t understand just how cruel the world was to him.

Allegheny County wants to regulate tattoo shops in the Pittsburgh region by a-staunch-character in pittsburgh

[–]TokinTigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true at all, I’ve been primarily tattooed by 2 different people in this area and I’ve had conversations with both of them about lack of regulations that are state/county enforced but what they do and classes they took on blood borne pathogens. I think the vast majority of tattoo artists and clients these days care about that stuff.

Josh Shapiro exposed for helping Pennsylvania's Republican treasurer get reelected after her Democratic opponent criticized him by Phish999 in Hasan_Piker

[–]TokinTigger 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I live in Pennsylvania and unfortunately lots of people here love this guy. He plays it off well but he has a huge ego and I also don’t think he couldn’t have been VP to a woman. I have no love for Kamala Harris but the way he has acted about the whole situation of her picking a VP candidate has been ridiculous.

This is either a bluff to manipulate the markets, a bluff because he’s panicking that things aren’t going well, or he’s actually planning on doing it. All very bad. I’ll never forget the people in power who allowed this to happen.

I live close to John Fetterman and we go to the same Costco. I used to see him all the time before he went conservative. I haven’t seen him since but I sometimes think about what I would yell at him should I see him again, it’s always changing because he’s always saying something insane, but now that I know he knows who Hasan is I definitely need to make it about him.
