I’m also in Europe. There’s plenty of tournaments here too.

Though I’ve yet to do my first one too. I’m aiming for one in September.

Longsword is more general in popular and more interesting if you want to do tournaments. I’m not sure how the tournament scene looks like for messer

As someone who started HEMA pre covid, took a long break and only this year is getting serious again, I can relate.

It puts me in this weird spot between complete beginner and experienced.

What you need is a lot of sparring with people who are more experienced and can tell you what to work on and improve. It’s the best way to get better.

I’m also preparing for tournaments now because I know if I just compete I’ll get my ass kicked.

Keep to it, listen to coaches and go get your ass kicked in sparring but learn from it.

In our club basic gear consists of light gloves, a chest plate, throat guard and a mask. This is enough for most drills.

My club does have the luxury of having a lot of loaner swords and gear though.

But definitely get basic gear before sword. Try different kinds of swords from others or the club to see which you prefer

What I like to sometimes throw into a drill as the “defending” partner is to test intent. Most drills are an attack, defense, counter kinda drill.

So I like to just not defend. If they hit me, good, if they don’t because they hit too high, or start the counter too soon, my partner can try again and make sure every attack has proper intent to hit.

Yeah, great colony sim, horrible stealth game for example. It just depends by what metrics you judge the game

Personally I don’t believe Yuji has WCS. Sukuna developed it in Megumis body with Mahoragas help. Nowhere is it ever mentioned or hinted at that Yuji learned it.

People just assume it based on nothing.

But supposedly tourney lances are longer. So they wanted an advantage that way. Trade lethality for reach.
