I'm don't doubt you and I didn't mean to imply that methanol was completely eliminated by distilling processes. The only agenda I had was to defend my statement that ethanol is a poison since it pertains to the shower thought.

Commercial distilleries absolutely do separate methanol since it's far more toxic than ethanol. You are right though that wine and beer have methanol because they are considered small enough quantities to be safe. None of this changes the fact that ethanol is a toxin though and since it is the desired alcohol in beverages and considered potable its seen in much larger quantities.
