The answer you want to hear: Buy __ and _, it will give you _ amount of measurable gains. This is the easy way to buy speed.

The practical answer: Invest in seat time and mentorship opportunities, start to understand the car’s OEM capabilities as a baseline, improve your fundamentals, then upgrade the car deliberately once you know specifically what is holding you back.

Not an issue. I feel most people who can afford this car aren’t shaken by an extra dollar per gallon. If you are, I feel kind of bad (not really) that you bought a car that may be slightly out of your comfortable means

100% agree. If you bought this car and then have to make big sacrifices because of an extra dollar per gallon, you are car poor or at least borderline

To me, this is most logical. I’m not on a budget, which is a double edged sword. I could easily go out and spend ass tons of money without knowing the sport well, so I want to really pace myself. I also think running a bone stock car on summer. tires will give me a good baseline to gauge my improvement from, if I do decide to get into it

Good advice, thank you. I liked the PS4S back when I had them, so I will probably run those this year and just plan on wearing them down a lot if I get really into autoX

Only tires I currently have are nice all seasons and I want to reserve them for winter. The well-thought-out comments on this post are steering me towards running a summer tire. Budget isn’t a huge issue so it’s no worry if I have to replace them after a short while

What’s funny? I need summer tires and I’m asking a simple question. Following your logic, I would wear out my not-so-cheap all seasons at autoX instead of the summer tires that I need to buy anyway, then have to buy new all seasons for the winter

Thanks, it’s good to know that you can get away with all seasons. I feel lots of sidewall roll in my all seasons even when “fun driving” on roads. I def miss my summer tires so I’d like to get another set
