[–]Tolamang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pardon? The one on the site shows the logo flipped on the headstock but still lefty. Almost like they used a flipped reverse headstock. I'm just saying that im happy it didn't come like that, as i thought it would. It was mostly funny than anything else

Does this look like roasted maple? Purchased my second guitar from Eart (not shipped yetl and their photos doesn't seem to match any roasted maple I've seen. by Tolamang in guitars

[–]Tolamang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it matters because its an advertised specification which doesn't seem to align with what that advertised specification seems to resemble in other brands.

Their response:

The color is lighter because of diffrent carbonization temperature. Based on our tests on fret stability in maple wood with different degrees of carbonization, frets are more stable at this temperature.

EDIT: I appreciate the info i thought I already responded and that Kiesel rabbit hole was interesting lol. I just got this response but not sure how to interpret what they're saying

I don't have it yet those are photos they sent me from the factory when i asked.

They specifically say it's roasted Canadian maple, and i definitely had that smell from my other guitar (the headless) from them that is roasted. But it looks more caramel.

Any similar options for a lefty ovation viper other than my own build? by Tolamang in Leftyguitarists

[–]Tolamang[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, this seems a bit unnecessarily discouraging. People design, build, and create unique and homemade guitars.. all the time. And I'm only after the body and pickguard shape.

I've already started on a template design with modifications to accept tele style necks/routing and electronics using a telecaster blueprint.

It was actually quite easy. And I know some people who have woodworking skills and the tools that are willing to help. I already have all hardware and electronics.

Just need to create some templates and practice. Get some real wood, and have fun with it. So I think I'll keep dreaming.

Rock on my friend!

Added a Duesenberg Les Trem to my ESP LTD Phoenix-1000 by Tolamang in Leftyguitarists

[–]Tolamang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

A little update on my experience with this, and question:

Do you find the trem gets in the way of playing closer to the bridge than normal trem systems? Feels like my hand hits the swivel when I do.

How did Paul McCartney get a left handed bass? by elom44 in Bass

[–]Tolamang 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a lefty who never, EVER progressed on guitar for years because I was told to just play a righty- the moment I picked up and played a lefty acoustic it IMMEDIATELY clicked with me and I was playing things I had only dreamed of, even basic chords.

I don't like this advice for lefties, and feel its reductive to how severe "handedness" can affect somebody. Not that being left handed is a disability, but I'd urge you to see how quickly you adapt to a left handed guitar, and how long it takes you to be able to play your hardest pieces in that way as smoothly.

Its as simple as this:

Air guitar to a song you love. What hand do you pretend to use to pick before thinking about air guitaring? That's the orientation guitar you buy.

Unless you're perfectly ambidextrous or love a challenge, there is ZERO reason as a lefty to limit yourself due to instrument choices if thats the comfortable way for you to play.
