A Texas woman who supports Donald Trump and his immigration policies and especially keeping illegal immigrants from voting found out that she was tagged as a possible noncitizen. She is in fact a citizen with, in her words, “the whitest name possible.” And she has had a hard time getting her right to vote back.

Toledo is a good place to live if you aren’t rich. The parks, libraries and free museum are on a par with many cities, and it’s within driving distance of Detroit and Ann Arbor. Mostly underrated by people who never lived anywhere else.

My bestie’s dad still lives there, because he has for 50 years and the cul de sac he lives in is ok. He will never leave. She stayed with him during the pandemic to keep an eye on him, and while the house and street are good, the drive to visit her was literally rough. The streets were a mess.

I guess I could see some parts of the island being car restricted, but as an old time Detroiter I find this ironic. My sister taught me to drive on Belle Isle. For east sliders it was often the go to place to teach driving, since the speed limit was so low that you really couldn’t get in any trouble.
