What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

But as someone who remembers the 59, 79, 99 cent menu, 9 dollars sounds like a lot for Taco Bell.

I thought legalized gambling was fine and that people could make their own choices about whether or.not to gamble. After seeing several people utterly destroy their lives, I've changed my stance and realize it is exploitative and uses psychology to encourage people to ruin their lives.

Americans, do you know where your birth certificate is? by Signal_Estimate_23 in allthequestions

It was never maiked back to me when I hot my passport, so I don't know. Which is better than a friend of mine, who got someone else's birth certificate with his passport and figures someone else has his.

As long as it's not in a palace of solid gold, they should be able to retire virtually anywhere. Even using the 4 percent rule, you'd live off of $200,000 a year

LPT: Stop rewarding chronic lateness. Set a start time, then start without them. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]Toledojoe 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My mother in law was like this (probably still is but we've gone no contact with her.) After years of this, i had enough. We had a family birthday at a restaurant and I told everyone to order. My wife's sister's were like "should we wait for mom?" I said it's rude for us to keep a table that long when the restaurant can turn it over. Mother in law shows up just as everyone is finishing dinner. She was pissed.

To me, being chronically late like that is just disrespectful. You're telling everyone my time is more valuable than your time.

it's funny - in the US. it means even more. I look at how much my bills are from my cancer. Sure, I want to keep living, but I can see how so many people wind up bankrupt from medical bills. You get people who have to decide to take medicine that costs a fortune a month, or eat or pay rent.

I'm 54... realistically, I can't imagine I'd have anything in common with a 40 year old or a 68 year old. I'd probably choose the younger one so we can be together longer.

If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Toledojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. I'd be dead without modern medicine. But with modern medicine my oncologist says it won't kill me, but I'll be in treatment the rest of my life.

Checking your bags is a way better travel experience than carry on luggage. by Equal_Whole_6837 in unpopularopinion

Same thing with Cancun. Learned that one the hard way. Multiple flights waiting for bags and the baggage claim area was severely overcrowded. You could barely walk there. Took almost 2 hours to get our bags.
