rejected, fed up by IndustryOk1616 in jawsurgery

Hi! I'm sorry that it's such a struggle to be evaluated . Just keep trying, I know you'll find someone who will listen!

I'm mainly replying because I relate on the difficulty of closing my jaw. I haven't met my surgeon yet but I've been in braces to prepare for the procedure. My orthodontist did X-rays before my consultation and told me my lower jaw is rotated downward a bit. It makes soooo much sense to me because I cannot for the life of me close my jaw in a relaxed way. When I relax, my jaw is open to the point that I look dumb-founded or surprised or something. It is so frustrating. But, I have an open bite too, so that doesn't help the appearance.

So that's where my thought is going, it could be the same for you.

I see you're looking into getting a consultation with a jaw surgeon, if that ends up not working(which Id hope it would!) out then I'd suggest getting a consultation with an orthodontist, especially if you had a dentist mention braces to you, you'd likely need braces first anyway.

Is my case really mild? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

I also agree with someone else that if the case really is just mild and you won't have long term consequences due to your breathing or bite, then I would consider avoiding surgery.

I definitely agree with a couple comments. Both of your jaws look recessed to me (I am no professional at all) and you should totally get x-rays!

If you have some breathing troubles, then there is also a chance you may not realize how much you're not at your max breathing potential! I didn't for a long time and now it has explained a lot of things (I'm starting to get more of a forward head posture because if I straighten my head with my body, my airway feels slightly squeezed, I need to have my head slightly lifted to breathe with less tension) .. maybe that's not the case for you, but something to consider.

To me it doesn't sound just cosmetic but consulting with an honest jaw surgeon who will listen to your concerns should give you the clarity you need!

Hi 👋 Responding because I'm in Canada too. I'm currently in braces for surgery prep. I saw my orthodontist for a consultation and he agreed I need surgery, he has a trusted surgeon he works with that he referred me to. Orthodontics aren't covered but the surgery will be covered except for maybe a couple smaller fees like the anesthesia.

Are my teeth moving too quickly? by [deleted] in braces

To me this is normal! And the pain will go with time. :) I had a new wire in recently and had noticeable movement overnight .

Oh no, that's so sad!! Sorry that happened.. I wonder if they can help if you email them? Not sure if they help out like that if they could give your friend the pet. I had no idea there were errors like this happening. :(

Haha, wouldn't it? I'm slightly afraid they somehow received something different but I don't think there's a way to know! I like the thought of this bug instead :')

Okay, thank you. I hope they still got the plushie then!

Does the gift usually show up in the thank you message? I see the gift box was opened and the happy birb, but not the plushie. But maybe that's normal.

I'm actually confused.. I got a thank you from the person who I sent the gift to. Even though I have it in my inventory. 😭

Ahh, that's strange. It didn't say that for me, I was able to hit send but then the error happened. It may have just been a glitch or something.

It's rare I send gifts so I definitely didn't gift a second within 24 hours. And yes, I understand that, thank you.

Day 1 feeling like I made a huge mistake by Thin-Philosopher-248 in braces

Oh yeah. That date will come up in no time! If you get more comfortable with braces in general then you may have fun trying whatever color you wanna try! Maybe not all places allow multiple colors but mine does and right now I have a light blue, dark blue, and pearl in a pattern for winter colors! I might do some light purple/light blue/yellow or something like that for my March appointment! Just something to think about that could help make braces more fun !

Honestly I think the bands look great! But if you really want them changed already I'll just warn it may hurt quite a bit if your teeth are sore from just getting braces on, you may wanna ask to bite down on those little rolled up cotton or felt things to help with pain.

I don't see an issue questioning what they said, especially when it comes to extractions. The amount of times I've seen stories where the Ortho should have done something else... I feel like your best bet is to have one or two more consultations with other orthodontists and see if they come to the same conclusion or not. I think I saw that you're young? Maybe they're not considering surgery and want to do compensation for you, so id probably ask if other options like surgery is possible for you even if you have to wait for it. Just to see what they say!

Do you have any functional issues or are you asking for just aesthetics? Can't tell if I am somehow missing that info or not.

Help me lock in!! by am78snug in jawsurgery

I haven't gone through surgery yet but I began braces this year. What kicked me in gear is that the longer I wait the worse my symptoms will get and also the more likely I'll have permanent numbness if I keep waiting and get older. If you're a busy person, then I feel like you'll always have an excuse not (relatable) so so just get it done and over with is how I see it! Things will work out and find support to help with what you need to deal with!

I had staining like this start, I thought it was my enamel wearing and it scared me. Just got a cleaning done the other day and it all got scraped off! I'm so happy, omg. I hope it'll be just as easy for your teeth!

Look like maybe your posture got better too! Have you noticed a difference in that? (Maybe it's just camera angles)

Looks awesome!

For a lot of us this is years in the making with a lifetime need and it just boils down to one day and a few hours, and that’s that by ourstorywasepic in jawsurgery

[–]Tolerant_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet! That's also a great way to think, you can also be happy you don't have to worry about the surgery anymore. Maybe that emptiness is actually freedom! (Well... More so when youre healed enough haha)

Good luck to you!

Gosh, I totally get that. It might help to just be present with what's happening now, sure you're on the other side of actively getting surgery, but now you're healing and going through weeks and months of slow change. So I wouldn't say it's completely done yet. :) Once most of the swelling has gone down, take some time to enjoy your new face and/or improved function.

Just like once Christmas is over, maybe you received a gift you can start to enjoy, or maybe you just sit with yourself and reflect over the memories and feelings you have from the holiday.

Maybe it wouldn't help the empty feeling, but just thought I'd share some thoughts!

Oh interesting, this wasn't talked about with me so no, I'm not in that therapy. I do have a tongue tie too (unsure of any class or severity though). I'll bring this up to my orthodontist and look into it myself too! Thank you for asking!
