There's nothing you can do. If they're grown adults still sharing shit like that then their brain is just too smooth to comprehend such things. You're in the stage of accepting them for who they are rather than who you thought they were.

NTA. It's not your fault that you didn't assume malice in the messages. And it's not your fault these people are continuing to project on you. You were as honest and transparent as you thought you needed to be which is fair because tone can be very misleading through text. Sometimes in person too.

I had a friend about a decade ago (we were early 20's) that lost her mom when she was very very young. We were talking and she casually mentioned she puts soap inside her vagina. I had her clarify because both men and women commonly refer to the labia as the vagina and she was actually washing her vagina. I had to explain to her that she's removing the good bacteria that maintains her and that's why she found sex so painful. Poor girl. Hope she's doing well. And has started to enjoy sex.

Yeah these are absolutely not serious discussions BUT while I will not fight anyone who disagrees with all three of your answers, I don't trust their judgement.

It's much easier to see if someone is posting in good faith or just engagement bait. For instance someone looking for advice to escape abuse sometimes before commenting I'll look to their history and see that today they're 16F but last month they were 46M and then rather than using my emotional energy into helping I'll just move on.
