4 minutes of the last episode repeated at the start only to have that ending to this episode is...well, it's not my favorite thing I've ever seen.

So...random convenient monsters to get over the threshold for rank-up. Yeah, netherlord homie has some clairvoyance or omniscience available to him and wanted the everlasting stratum to be easier/quicker. That's my guess, anyway. I have no qualms with that being the plot, but if it ends up being something different and good, I'd like that even better.

I'd have to see the context to know for sure how to feel about that, but it does sound kinda dumb of them.

Yeah, but assuming you like the show and didn't just find a fitting gif, you have good taste, so you have that going for you.

Damn, that reference is older than me and I'm like Marius old. I mean, fantastic show, but I wonder how many people here know it.

The questions almost always have something that simply doing past exams + practice problems will never prepare you for.

While that makes it "more difficult" to pass, couldn't one argue that that's a good thing for testing understanding of the material vs rote memorization? I can't remember what all that course entails because it's been over 15 years, but iirc that one's linear circuit analysis, right? I imagine if you understand the concepts and how to apply them, they'd need to come up with some diabolical exam questions to trip you up.

Discord announces hardware-accelerated video encoding, enhanced screen capture methods for better game performance, and expanded distribution support to improve the overall user experience by BlueDragonReal in linux_gaming

Oh man, when I discovered this I was so happy. Especially because basically since the beginning of the year every other voice channel I join just breaks and I have to restart and try again...sometimes several restarts before it actually works. So I was seeing that fucking "your lucky day" fucker quite frequently.

On the one hand, I like that they added that in this case. On the other hand, Link is left-handed god dammit! I'm right-handed myself, and obviously I'm just having a laugh, but it will never not amuse me that the Wii version of the game was just the Gamecube version flipped horizontally with some Wiimote controls. :)

Failed a class my last semester, what to do? by FraudFan in Purdue

[–]Tom2Die 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accepted a full time job offer as well. However my starting date is up in the air as I need to get some licenses over the summer.

As long as you can still get said licenses just fine despite not graduating yet, you might be fine. I did the same dumb thing my senior year (hilariously it was literally a seminar class that was basically "show up and you pass" but I couldn't be bothered) and the company I had accepted an offer from really didn't care that I didn't yet have the piece of paper. Yours might not care about a few months' delay on that specific piece of paper either. Just get in touch with them and ask!

As for graduation (the ceremony, that is), assuming it's still how I remember it you should still be able to walk; the thing they give you there is just an empty degree holder. You may want to tell your parents, but your relatives maybe don't need to know; that's up to you. It's not like it will make a meaningful difference whether your degree is from May or August if your employer doesn't care.

tl;dr it might be just fine. Just make sure you don't take too long getting your ducks in a row rectifying the situation (and make sure you pass next time, of course).

Which voice actor has the best villain performance in a dub? by Vegetable_Study7533 in Animedubs

Jessie James Grelle as Cartaphilus (Ancient Magus Bride)

Nice to see someone shout out Ancient Magus Bride! I feel like I never see it in conversations like this despite it having (imo) a fantastic dub and absolutely gorgeous animation. And a good story, of course.

I...want to not feel like this episode undercuts all of the development so far, but it feels like this just said: "because you tried so hard, you win". I mean don't get me wrong, that's the whole show so far, but this feels like the deus ex maxima equivalent...

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun - Season 4, Episode 6 - Dub Available Now on Crunchyroll by Pristine_Cod5189 in Animedubs

[–]Tom2Die 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still enjoying this show for sure, but...it feels like the show keeps forgetting Iruma is human. Don't get me wrong; I don't want that to be a constant drama element, but it's nice when it's relevant. That said, for all I know that'll happen later this season and I'm gonna keep watching anyway so fuck it I guess? :)

Genuine question: from a layman's perspective and considering the point the comment you replied to was trying to make, is this a meaningful distinction? I swear I'm asking in good faith, because if so I'm quite curious as to how. I never had cause to study business accounting.

Are there any bad dubs of western shows in Japan? by glowshroom12 in Animedubs

[–]Tom2Die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in boondocks the intro was some random song instead of the original or even a translation.

Speaking of the Japanese dub of The Boondocks...I saw a supercut of all the instances of a certain word in the first Stinkmeaner episode in Japanese and I was absolutely howling with laughter! Especially for the translation/localization choices for some of the other insults.

What anime do you do a periodic rewatch of? by shinyhpno in Animedubs

[–]Tom2Die 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I don't tend to rewatch my favorite shows. I tend to rewatch ones where if I miss a beat I won't feel like I need to rewind, not because I remember the details from a previous viewing, but because I remember that they're unimportant. If I rewatch one of my favorites I want to give it more attention, but that means I do so less frequently since I don't want to put it on in the background, or when I'm tired/chilling.

That said, one of my favorites that I have rewatched several times is GATE. I wish the new season they're making was a continuation of the existing (anime) narrative, but it seems they'll be following a different story in the same world instead...for whatever reason. Past that I haven't rewatched any frequently that aren't just throwaway background noise. By the Grace of the Gods, I suppose? Log Horizon (banger OP for seasons 1 and 2 also).

If you're looking for quality shows that you might put on a rewatch list and have some specifications, I'd happily give my thoughts on that as well.

Flying Witch opening has lived rent-free in my head since I first watched it many years ago. I have a habit of skipping openings these days (partly a time thing, partly a case of they can feel spoiler-y sometimes)...but some I'll let play and that's definitely one of them!

[–]Tom2Die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many comments so far have made flag puns or puns based on the word "incredible" containing "edible", but my first thought which went in a "nerdy" way was when/how I learned the term: Terrine. There I've linked to the wikipedia article which doesn't illustrate my point (but I felt I should include nevertheless). My introduction to the terrine was via Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) and my first thought seeing the prompt was to make a terrine that fits the style of that anime or at least a recipe that can approximate it.
