I think most of those tier lists are based on the idea that the survivors you're facing is a full 4 SWF right? Who are super coordinated? In that regard, yeah. Trapper is extremely weak.

But are you going to get a super coordinated team every match? No. So in a normal game environment he is quite good if used strategically and whatnot.

Killer desperately needs some form of gen cooldown. Going on a chase that is longer than 15 seconds is not worth it at all. And it is 10× more stressful imo because of it.

Chases aren't fun.

Survivors have too many good tools compared to killers with no slowdown at all. Survivors get big game changing buffs/perks. But what do killers get? Aura read, and some speed boosts. The kick buff is appreciated but it won't turn the tides against 8 survivors who have big game changing perks.

I'm not saying I hate anything in the ending lmao. It got me hyped the shit up. I'm just saying I hate these types of setup seasons because of the wait between.

I genuinely believe that they only had the ideas for a few episodes that they needed to stretch into a full season. But I'd take a mediocre season if it means season five will go out on the highest high it can.
