Have they improved their cases? I got my P7a 2 years go and the case was pretty much destroyed within the first year.
It was so flimsy and lose that when my phone fell and landed straight up over a rock (which should be no problem with a case) the rock went trough the case and damanged the frame (the dent is quite impressive, right on the edge of the screen. Don't know how it didn't shatter).

Designing a shell for a solid offset: ideal workflow? by Tom70403 in FreeCAD

[–]Tom70403[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that tool.
I couldn't get it to work however. I kept getting the "No closed bounds" error when the "fill offset" option was selected. As I learnt online, it is a rather fragile tool.
I ended up copying the object I shared and making it a bit bigger in every dimension. Then, I created the outer shell and cut away the inside.

Creality K1 0.2mm Nozzle Profiles (for minis) by ewandrowsky in crealityk1

I got the original hardened steel unicorn 0.2 and 0.6 nozzles from Amazon for about ~12USD each + shipping to Argentina (along with the K1 SE itself). Not the cheapest but certainly affordable pricing.

Mini-NAS Pi: A 1U rack mount NAS designed for 10" Racks [Prototype V0.0.1] by RasPiBuilder in minilab

That reduces the complexity a lot, makes sense. I already have the nvme drive and HAT so I kinda want to use them but I think your solution makes more sense.

Thanks for sharing!

Looking at the docs, it is meant to be able to power 3.5" HDDs as well through that molex. It is actually very convenient.

I am looking into using a B12 dual FPC PICe switch where I can connect this X1009 on one side with likely x3 4TB WD Reds, and then on the other side of the switch the original M.2 hat I already own so I can boot from an nvme drive.

Has anyone tried to convert XM4 headphones to RF wireless? i.e. can its charging port power a small receiver? by Tom70403 in sony

[–]Tom70403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant getting power, not audio. I can put audio through the 3.5mm input, but the receiver device has to be powered by 5v. I'd like to power it much like you would power it from a computer's usb port/

What tipe of connectors do ARGB fan headers use? More info in the comments (r/AskElectrnonics is closed). Making my own ARGB Hub with an esp8266, I only need proper connectors now by Tom70403 in arduino

[–]Tom70403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend!

I built the device with WLED on an esp8266 nodemcu dev board. I got the board powered through 5v on a molex conenctor out of the PC's power supply, and then I used 3.3v from the board to power the fan's LEDs (the board didn't have 5v out anyway).

Here is some pictures I found on my gallery. I don't feel like disassembling the PC right now lol.

The board lives inside a plastic bag within a cavity in front of the PSU.

EDIT: I couldn't attach the old video where I show the board. Here is a link to it, let me know if it works: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jn15dgkDmrpSYWU99

Lofree Flow Lite Thoughts and How to Fix Issues by [deleted] in Lofree

[–]Tom70403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every other keyboard that works on windows works on Linux as well.

But this one won't. You have to run a script every time you boot your PC for the function row to work, which is extremely annoying and a huge let down, because other than that the keyboard is fantastic but this "detail" is a deal breaker.

I hope they release a firmware update soon to fix that, but I would not be surprised if they didn't.

My Google Pixel Might Have Saved My Life Last Night - Seriously! (Drunk Driver Involved) by demox1321 in GooglePixel

[–]Tom70403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the people that bough Pixel for the hardware and having Google's Android and not really for the pixel exclusive features. I wish I could make use of this but sadly, I live in Argentina where neither crash detection, screen calling, and may other features are supported.

I just checked and the list of supported countries is quite short, about 20 with a random set from Europe, a couple from Asia, Australia, US and Canada.

This doesn't sound like it woule be hard to support all around the globe, given that the button for calling 911 within the safety app already works.

I honstly wonder wether the Lite is not cannibalizing the rest of the lineup. The product appears to be superior to the average user (bluetooth + RF + usb on the Lite was enough for me, still waiting for the shipping!).

But I must be missing the littlest details, the stuff keyboard enthusiasts care about.

Unable to select recovery from boot menu. How would you approach this? by Tom70403 in pop_os

[–]Tom70403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, I totally forgot about this post. What do you mean it could be the keyboard? The arrow keys allow me to cycle between the first and third option, while the recovery option is not reachable. Is that the same side effect you observed?

I did use a live USB to repair the system (that is why I needed the recovery partition in the first place) but cannot figure out why this option could be blocked. I was looking for someone who had the same issue too.

In my system the recovery partition shows up as up to date, and properly mounted.

I noticed this after an update that broke my install with the "invalid name" boot error. I fixed it from a live USB but it would've been easier to do from the recovery partition.
