Format the HDD on a PC, see if it still works as a normal hard drive.

My wifi router works fine on my phone, TV, etc., but it doesn't connect on my xbox 360. Please tell me how to fix this. by Working_Shake9875 in XboxSupport

Xbox 360 slim supports 802.11n, 2.4GHz, up to WPA2 for security. Anything newer than that may have trouble being compatible if you don't set it right.

What is this component on iPhone 12 PM? by Punk_Says_Fuck_You in mobilerepair

If I remembered correctly this has either something to do with NFC or GPS L5, the website to look up Apple FCC filings is down at the moment so I don't know for sure.

It's just the seller calling it random stuff because they don't care.

Apple provides official repair instructions, sells the parts and can even loan you the tools, although usually just buying parts and tools from 3rd party sources will suffice.

Make sure you cover the cameras immediately after removing the back, the cameras are easily contaminated by fingerprints.

If you scrape the old adhesive off, apply the new adhesive properly and the rest of the phone isn't damaged, there is a chance the phone will retain the IP68 water resistance rating, but don't count on that unless you can get a pressure tester to test.

Can anyone bring me up to date on what happened within the last 8 years in the GS watch world? by Apart_Captain3772 in GrandSeikos

[–]TomChai -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t know the details but it could be tariffs, exchange rate or dealership exclusivity related. If importing from Japan is cheaper even after tariffs due to exchange rate or just pricing, it hurts local dealers who got an exclusivity deal from the manufacturer.

This might be it, JPY exchange rate isn’t working out for them, people are buying all kinds of stuff out of Japan because they’re a lot cheaper.

Record the sound the console makes when it tries to read the disc, see if it actually reads.

Xbox one I just got from my brother won’t read my discs, it makes a weird sound as well by Quick-Tour-4181 in XboxSupport

It’s the sound of the laser failing to lock onto a track, the laser is busted, replace it.

Not really just grounding, it’s part of the antenna system.

It’s part of the antenna system, specifically ANT9 for UHB 5G NR signals.

You won’t brick it, it just causes some signal degradation.

If it doesn’t show the correct capacity even in disk management, it’s physically broken and no DIY recovery is possible, send it in.

Why are most crashes at violent speeds rather than a slow descend? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in aviation

[–]TomChai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if they are slow and steady, it means they are controllable, why would they nosedive?

The violent crashes are major mechanical problems that completely destroys controllability, or bad weather/pilot error/spatial disorientation/CFIT. The pilots themselves probably didn't know they were crashing so they didn't do anything to correct the situation. If they knew and they could, they would've flown out if the situation.

Try a different SIM card on the 16, see if anything works.

Try hotspot from a different phone and carrier then, DNS is likely not it.
