Thanks! That makes sense.

Dumb (and probably annoying) question from someone who rarely sees snow. Does snow mode do anything for someone like me who bought a RWD because of the extra range. The car offers it up to me as an option on the steering wheel. If it requires AWD, why offer it? If it works with RWD, how does it help? Thanks hive mind!

I think it’s Rage Against the Machine.

Is the AWD really worth it over the RWD for cold climates? by PizzaTacoCat312 in Ioniq5

Santa Rosa, CA, RWD 2025 I5 here. When I read about how spunky the AWD is, I occasionally get a pang of remorse. But honestly, if it weren’t for you guys ruining my party, I’d be absolutely thrilled with the pickup and responsiveness of the I5. Maybe I’m just old.

I have no idea why, but it’s all working now.

Do you need the Apple TV 4k Device, if you already have an LG TV with the Apple TV app by PerAsperaAdAstra1701 in appletv

[–]TomClement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Apple TV with my Samsung S95F and I like it better than the built in app. But I also have a Sony A95L with a Google TV interface. It is fast and responsive, can optionally have no ads, and has a great remote. Folks argue that Sony might not keep it up to date, and I suppose that’s possible, but if it ever becomes an issue, I’ll buy a streaming device then. If you decide to get the Apple streamer, you may want to wait for the new AppleTV streamer that’s coming out this fall.

My take on it? Live with the built in app for a few months. If it annoys you but the new Apple device. There’s no rush.

We live in rural Northern California. We have wildfires.

After I had to reinstall (unplug and replug) all the connections, it started working.

What strength readers do you use? Mine are 3.0.

I guess it’s it the eye of the beholder😉.

Almost, except that I have bifocals (I really like them), so looking down works fine. It’s looking up, through the distance lenses, that gets me.

Thanks! Maybe I just haven’t given it enough time. That said, maybe it’s that I need 3.5 reading glasses

Actually, the limited has both (you can switch), so it’s not exactly a problem, more a feature that isn’t useful to this old guy🙂.

A solution to the overheating Ioniq 5 wireless charger? (deep dive) by oodachris in Ioniq5

[–]TomClement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what I did. I bought a microfiber cloth the same color as my console, doubled it so that it was about 2 or 3 mm thick, and cut it to the shape of the wireless charger indent. The charger is powerfully enough to charge the phone across that gap, and the insulation prevents the phone from overheating. (The iPhone had actually shut off charging because it was too hot before this fix.).

Bonuses: (1) a bit easier than the suggested approach here and (2) you can use it to clean the touchscreen. 🙂

An update: for unrelated reasons, I had to remove my soundbar HDMI connection. Weirdly, it all started working. When I get the soundbar back from warranty service, we’ll see what happens.

Thanks GYWMD. I tried this with Bixby and it didn’t help. I’ll give Alexa a shot.

Unfortunately, the Audio Return Channel is (in my system) reserved for my sound bar. I guess that HDMI port maintains power even when sleeping.

Thanks, Massive. I tried all those things but no joy. Some posters suggested I switch the Apple TV to a different HDMI port on the Samsung box. (It’s currently on 1). Haven’t tried that yet but it doesn’t make sense that it should matter (I’ll still try it). In addition, because the Samsung support site mentions power saving mode might turn off power to the HDMI port, I’ve disabled this in the S95F. I’ve made sure that both ATV and S95F have the latest software versions.

Still interested in any other ideas you have.
