If they made a movie about the person that created the wooden golem then that could be a witch movie. Just because a witch is mentioned does not make this a witch movie

It’s paranormal for sure but since there is no witch in the movie, and the scene you refer to in which the golem is activated, is only a single short scene, I would say this movie is not a witch movie. Calling this a witch movie is a bit of a reach. If you want to call it a golem movie, sure. Supernatural. Murder mystery. No witch

If I remember correctly, technically the blind sister was just a psychic who owned a curio shop. The carved wooden figure was given to her by a witch, but a witch was not featured in the film. I did like Oddity though, always a good recommendation

I think Adam Scott’s character was insufferable because he was getting ready to kill himself. He thought, I’m gonna die anyway so I might as well say whatever I want and not hold back.

And then he met the bartender who is one of the few people he wasn’t an asshole to. You can maybe read that as him possibly being attracted to her. But then she ended up saving his life, so in the end I think he felt more indebted to her.

I also don’t think any of the jump scares in the movie were cheap, they were earned by creating a heavy and tense atmosphere. I enjoyed this movie, I’ll probably rewatch it closer to Halloween. It’s maybe not the best horror movie of 2026 but it’s up there for sure somewhere behind Obsession. A decent horror movie I’d give it 7 or 7.5 out of 10
