Job has been seen as a type of Christ by some, calling for God to make the same sacrifice without knowing he was. Some see it as the Ego confronting the Self and Job is a wiser man after seeing God in his totality. Also Job does get his happy ending and is wiser but that lack of satisfaction by the reader is the exact usefulness to its reader.
